I remember way way back when this game was being first worked on and they released the first demo. I was insantly hooked. I could move my ship at warp and laugh insanely as I dropped out right on top of an enemy group of ships, spewed death than flew off before their shots could harm me. This game moves at an increadibly fast pace compared to most games and there's just something about rallying 300 scouts to take on the enemy fleet of 15 gunships... Unfortunately it has been nearly 2 years since I have played this game. My Mac computer broke down long ago and my parents replaced it with a compaq. I was probably one of the very first few to buy this game. I checked daily to see when I could get it, and waited forever for it to come in the mail and never stopped playing it until my old comp broke... Please help me figure something out. I need to get a working Mac Emulator to play this game again, my only problem is that the ones I have found are terrible, or I just can't get them to work. Does anyone have a place where I can get a mac emulator (preferably free) and a ROM I would need to get it to work? This is my favorite game ever, pls help.

Don't bother with an emulator - get a Color Classic or something. You can probably get it for about $50 if you can find a good place ( (url="http://"http://www.lowendmac.com")www.lowendmac.com(/url) ?)
Honestly, Ares is a fairly simple game, you don't need a lot to play it.

I had an old Performa 475 when I played it... kinda don't wanna bother getting a computer, though I guess I will if I have to
Trust me, I don't know of any free emulators, the upgrade alone of SoftMac is $70, and you could probably get a computer just as good for less.
However I'm pretty sure you need a better computer than a Classic to use Hera. Just so you know.

He can start with this (Hera's too confusing for him to use at this point anyway).
Hopefully, someone will realize that this Low end computer about measures up to the middle Windoze lines, and would chip in for a 233mHz iMac or a PowerMac G3, something used, maybe.

Amen. I hear ya.
You need an early Power PC. Very cheap these days with G3s and G4s about. Any Power PC will run Ares with amazing speed (!), though a little slowly with 100 ships or more in the air at once... I too have played Ares since its "Changeling Ares Demo days", and on an old Mac then too.
