Strategies...help me please.

The monty python doesn't work too well in ares. Besides, what's wrong with using skill? 😉

I just figured out that you can build up forces at any point in the system. It seems kind of obvious , but I jsut never thought of it before. just go to that place yourself and have the force escort you. Now, you've created a beacon(yourself) at that point in space and the ships will defend that area. Now I just have to find a way to put it to use...

Such as plunking yourself right on the enemy planet? Nothing like a good camp out 😄

A good use of that though is make yourself a roving base.
In one of the chapters (I forget, it's the one with the Sal station between you and their planet) the best bet is to build a few transports, have them follow you, and then strike out towards their planet. Have all the ships follow you, and any ships you build warp to you. Every so often, kill the transports that the Sals send towards you planet, keep building, and you'll eventually arrive at their planet with enough ships to keep everyone busy while the transports land.

But make sure to go around the massive battle-station sitting in the middle of space. It's a bugger.

(Yes, my quote is from Marathon too. Guess where from?)

Hahahahahahaha!

But really, the best way to do it is send a single (1) engineering pod to the flack drone. Then get one (1) cruiser, and make a single, close pass by the drone, and thereby, its guards. after the initial pass, make several passes circling around the drone to get the guards to follow you. Then slowly draw them out into space, leaving the drone completely unguarded! You don't waste any pods, and you get to keep your cruiser. Once the drone is yours, just blockade the planet, and you've won(practically).

**Well, I just posted this strategy in Make Way, but it's brutally effective in When the Iorn is Hot, Into The Fire, and maybe some missions after Make Way(I'm currently stuck on that one).

How it works is very simple. Select the enemie's base as a target, and warp over there. Build ships and send them to the enemy base as fast as you can while blowing the crap out of all the enemy ships in the proximity. Eventually, if you're a good pilot you'll gain control of the space around the base. Then you just lay siege to the base and send over a transport. It is a little risky, as you have to be careful not to let any transports or Engineerign pods escape though.

That strategy, while effective, is a bit harder on "Into the Fire" because of the insane production rate of the Gatori, you ussually end up fighting for a little while longer than usual to babysit the planet.

One problem in that strategy, the Sal transports have cloaking fields.
