Good, but don't assume that since the letters are adjacent in our language they will in others- I can think of no reason why E/F, M/N and V/W would be adjacent. I'm creating an english version of the Obish alphabet (I'll make the Obish characters too eventually), but I've eliminated 3 or 4 redundant letters and added about 5 more that have no reason to be letter combos.

You're still not going far enough. Why assume they'd use letters at all? One of my species concepts uses bends in a curve. Each curve (or rather spiral) is one thought.

Words have particular phonetics attached to them.
The Obish letters, so far, are entirely phonetic.
Ergo, the letter is related to the thought.
You're using letters of a sort anyway.
I know that not all letters in alien alphabets would corospond exactly to our letters, or even if aliens had letters at all. I don't have enough time to create a whole new language, so the stuff that I did do was the best I could make.
