The Screen Bug: Explanation and Plea

I finally think I figured out how this works (though not how to fix it :frown: )... For those that don't know, the bug I refer to is the bug that prevents you from displaying a startup sequence (of logos, for instance) using the Wait and Teleport actions (you have to make it a clickable location...).

Here's the deal: When a main location is loaded, all of its events are run and THEN the screen is refreshed. It seems that even the Refresh Screen action and the Redraw Screen option in Stamp Control don't remedy this (I haven't tested TOO thouroughly, but initial findings do suggest that these functions don't work). If anyone has an idea of how to let the events of a location resolve and to then trigger a teleport... let me know (note: I tried a timer... I've heard animations don't work in main locations and my results seem to support this :frown: ).

EDIT: Someone remind me to post this to the beta list. 😉

Not that I can tell that posting anything to the list is doing any good...

In an email to the beta list from Carmelissa:
Oops, yeah there is an extra Help menu. It's been fixed.

Carmelissa Valera / Intern / Ambrosia Software, Inc.

So that's about all we know. 😉 Actually, we've requested a progress report and I'd wager we'll have one in a few days. 🙂

There's a reason it's posted to a closed beta list, even if enrollment is open...

Dampeoples, is my giving out THAT information gonna do any damage to the beta or ASW whatsoever? The notion seems ridiculous to me. :

In addition, nowhere did I agree to anything prohibiting me from posting such information (no license agreement, nothing). The reason it's on a closed list is so that those that don't want to see a bunch of posts every day don't have to, and because email is better for this type of thing than a web board. As you said, anyone can join and get the same messages, so it's not really an issue.

The notion might seem ridiculous to you, but it's still a closed list. I didn't say it would hurt the company either, I mentioned it was closed.
The reason it's on a closed list is that it's not info that's privy to everyone else, if that's the case why didn't you just go ahead and join the rest of the lists while you were at it?
It's just poor form, but go ahead, post the rest of the responses if you want.

It is ridiculous but dampeoples is right. All of the info I got about the update was using AIM. The beta list info should not be posted even if it seems minor. I'm sure that if Carm posts an update on the beta list she will also post one in here.

Just wondering, why doesn't Ambrosia have Coldstone listed on this page? (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/news/upcoming/")http://www.ambrosias.../news/upcoming/(/url)

I know it is an update to Coldstone. However, It would be released like a new program because Ambrosia has closed the sales of CS.

That is unless they have dropped CS completely. True it needs to ether be posted in upcoming, or a progress log of the update needs to be posted. Because I have heard no real news. Just rummers from you all. We all need a solid statement from Ambrosia.

Message sent by GrahamVH to Andrew:
Hello,
In the Coldstone Web board we are asking that you add Coldstone to the Techworks Upcoming section of your News area in your website. The primary reason for this request is because many of us in the Coldstone Web board are beginning to wonder if Coldstone is really being worked on. We really haven't heard of any progress reports or much indication on whether Coldstone is really being worked on. We do like Coldstone a lot. It's an excellent Program. We just like want to get our money's worth. If you want to se the topic I am talking about it is at http://www.ambrosias...ML/002472.html#

Andrew is great...

Oh, and by the way : I never succeded in getting any answer to my demand to be add on the beta list... I also made a demand to receive the newsletter and never got any answer too... Can I post this info here ?... Or do I have to ask for permission, and never get any answer ?...

------------------

Posting it here, Jo, won't do much good. It won't get seen by the right eyes. Catch 22: If you don't have a registered copy of Coldstone you are not able to do a beta test. You can't register until an approved version is available. I think the "newsletter" is inactive until all of this is done. I don't think I've received an email from "Coldstone Developer's Digest" in over a year. Volume #20 was emailed on 4/23/03. I'm afraid you'll just have to read over our shoulders so to speak. :frown:
