CS Update of Panther

Hi everyone

So Coldstone was a great idea, and it could have been a great product. But Benox is the kind of software developer that just makes something, dumps it on the market and forgets about it. So Coldstone had lots of bugs. Espeshaly for OS X which was new when it came out. Now we have hit the 64bit procesor age and Panther. Where is Coldstone in all of this. Well pretty much the same as it was way back when it came out. So I was wondering if we could start a petition or something so that CS gets an update. So that it works in panther (in the least) and maybe we could get some cool features added. What do you say? I have a ful lingth game that I can't even work on because of Panther. So I'm all for it. Lets let Benox and Ambroshia know that we apritiate there work but that it badly needs an update. If CS was updated I have lots of people I would tell to get it. But the way it is now isn't worth the $.

I say we've already done a petition, and that someone is already working on not only an update for Panther, but other bug fixes. Where've you been for the past few months?

Oh, and I also say that you're in need of a dictionary. Sorry, I couldn't resist. 😉

You can run Coldstone Games under classic mode in Panther. Yes as Brqgn said we already sent a petition and have someone working on updating Coldstone. However we will still need to wait a bit before it is brought to beta. Rome wasn't built in a day.

I know that the was someone who was making an update. But then I couldn't find any info on it. They need to have a page that shows there progress. I don't like using classic as it is a pain. And yes I have a spelling disability, but then meny of the great minds in this world and in history had the same disability I do. It is two sided good and bad. I'm bad at school, but I think in a diferent way. Any way. Is there any where I can find info on this updat?

Search the boards for "Panther update". You should get some results. And sorry about the spelling thing, I was just kidding.

Well you caould ask carm at carm@ambrosiasw.com to put you on the beta list. However, you now know just as much about the update progress as any of us.

As I have said before in some other topic. Carm has said she has fixed most of the bugs that she can make happen every time. It is just those that only happen occasionally she needs to fix and she also needs to test it. That is as much as we all know.

And if you are using OSX then why don't you use the built in spell checker?

Nether OSX nor Coldstone has a built in spell checker. What are you talking about?

Actually, Safari does. I know cause I use it. 😉

In Safari, go to Edit -> Spelling -> Check Spelling as you type.

This will underline any misspelled words (in forum entries, one-line entries, etc.) for you. You can then hit Command (Apple)-":" (which is Shift + ";") which will propose suggestions for misspelled words. Neat eh?

Thank you!

OSX has a system wide spell checker that any apps that want to can use. Text Edit uses it. Safari uses it. iChat uses it. Mail uses it. I'm sure there is a way to let CS use it by changing something in RB

I don't think so, actually. This is a feature in place for Cocoa apps. I'm not sure if RB could access it, as I am sure it is built into the Cocoa framework rather than the system.

But if they re-wrote CGE in Cocoa... 😄

Windows: 32 bit extensions and a graphical shell for a 16 bit patch to an 8 bit operating system originally coded for a 4 bit microprocessor written by a 2 bit company that can't stand 1 bit of competition.

I'm not sure who said it but it was one of my friends who has used RB a lot said it may be possible to access the spell checker using RB (it may have been Ell or someone else)
