Now folks, the greatest of the greatest (that's supposed to be me ;)), will introduce to you all, for the first time (or second, who cares?) in the coldstone history: isometric view.
An isometric map is built using small "blocks" that is put upon each other to form a landscape/forest/battlefield/anything. I use this system for my upcoming game (wich I shall not write anything about or I'll get some people biting my arse and telling me that this is not a place to advertise :p).

There is at least one layer under the player wich is the basic ground level (I call it ground1). Then you can add how many layers you ever want, both under and over this layer. Blocks can be deformed in any way to form slopes or holes in the ground.
I guess that's enough information. Just wanted to post this for someone to enjoy (yeah, yeah, I do want to feel best :p).

Ledorax, this looks facinating. Was all of this done with Coldstone? Obviously the art is imported from some other app., but the maps don't look like the CGE products. Please tell us more.

Great work. I have a question. When you were building the blocks in Strata and finally rendered them, what camera angle did you use? I'm guessing between 30-45 degrees.

Isometric is one of the preset camera angles. Make sure that you are in othographic view as well (the 'eye' slider at the top should be on the left) Using the isometric view allows you to do top down graphics very easily. Just make you graphics in strata and then rotate 45ÅŸ and go to isometric.

Ledorax, complaints? I would have never thought to do so. In fact, I was experimenting with isometric as well, and the access tiles just don't seem to line up enough. I think I got a working sidescroll, though. Good work nonetheless. Maybe you can overcome what I couldn't do....

To Be Honest, I do not want to make game, because I aint no computer freak that sit in front of computer all day to learn making games, I dont have time for that, I am out with my friends ( Actually I am on vacation in thailand now ) but anyways, Yes I may be a little jealous, but I do not realy want to make game, And I was only joking with Ledorax I know him in real world, so don't need to fight

But you see, that's most people's rendition of game design. You have to have skill to finish anything, and have patience enough to see it to the end. And thanks to Coldstone, you do not have to be a computer freak to accomplish such a great task.

Leddy, how did you get past the access tiles to line up better? Is that another test you are working on? That and a lackluster of isoimages is what stopped me.....
