This is getting silly. It is plain and simple. It is the same for all software. You can re-sell it. I know it says you can't re-sell it for a PROFIT though if he buys one for less or for the same price that is a LOSS.
As has been said you are allowed 2 copies of the software, 1 the origional, 1 a backup. It is the same with console games. You can copy them but only for a back up. Now it says you have to purchase a code for each Mac CS is installed on. This means that if you have 2 Macs then you need 2 codes, 1 for each Mac. This only counts for Macs CS is PRESENTLY installed on not all the Macs it has ever been on. This clause is in all licenses for all software and it means the same. If you sell the software and the license and someone else installs it on their machine it is perfectly legal AS LONG AS YOU DELETE IT OFF YOUR MACHINE. That way that copy is only installed on the new owners computer and not on several

This is my first time coming to these boards because I had a question and I saw this. Does this mean that I can't register my demo version? Also, is there anything extra on the cd that you wouldn't get in the demo version, like graphics stuff?
------------------
The CD comes with graphics and other cool stuff that isn't included in the download version.
No, you can't register your demo.

Ummm, I thought that the demo version was a full version, but was restricted in certain areas without the code. Isn't that correct?

i have. if this is incorrect please inform the "obscure figures" who use this method regularly to enter old codes. its very common knowledge, considering they've been using from everything from apeiron to snapz pro.
doing such allows you to circumvent the registration app, the code itself does not expire, there is nothing wrong with the code, nor does it have anyway of knowing what machine you are using. The code however is derived from the name and time of issue...

I was responding to the following line:
Accordingly you may need to set the clock back on your machine inorder to enter the purchased code on your computer. (/quote)
If the code has not been made publicly available ie: as a pirated code, then this is incorrect. You merely need to input the code and click on the 'refresh code' button, not reset your system clock at all.
Since Ambrosia input the new code system, what you quote doesn't really work - putting back the system clock doesn't fool everything, neither does deleting the preferences, etc, etc.
Now, to the topic: I would here agree with dampeoples. Whether or not the CD exchanges hands in this transaction, the actual ownership of Coldstone isn't transferred by CD, but via a license code. You don't need the CD to run Coldstone at all, the application is fully functional once it has been downloaded and installed with a code. As such, I'd say that selling the CD makes no difference to the Ambrosia team, in that the app is being distributed without their permission. It is all too easy for one party to send the CD and code, but keep the code themselves. I'm not accusing anyone of anything here guys, I'm just saying that's how the system works. Hence, I'm going to close this topic. t's just a little too close to the borderline for me.
I suggest that both Nod and crizak contact either Andrew Welch (andrew@ambrosiasw.com) or David Dunham (help@ambrosiasw.com) before they go any further with their exchange - for the protection of all involved.
