Ok, this is complicated. Quit the OS-X version of Coldstone. Start classic mode. Double-click on the classic application of Coldstone. Wait for it to start up. Then make sure that you are working on the same game. Continue from there. LOL! I told you it was horrible. This is great for editing only.
There are some things you need to know. Running system 9 while under OS-X(Panther) has caused some problems. It may only LAUNCH an OS-X version(which; as you know- crashes). The alternative is to do a start-up in Classic(OS-9) only. (I do this to avoid several problems, like it crashing when you want to make a 'map preview'.) Any questions? Nope? Good! he he

Try compiling a classic only version of your game after you have followed albadars instructions. After that all future launches and builds (though not compiles) should be classic ones
