One of the things I don't like about Coldstone is the death animation. Is there a way to change that, or is everyone stuck with that stupid fade out effect?

Technically you're stuck with the stupid fade out. And I do agree that it's stupid. The wierd thing is, it's a much smother transparency effect than my little group has been able to do on our own. That much impresses me at least. Or is it confuses?
Not technically, try including a place stamp action in the monster's death event. We're still deciding whether death animations are worth starting (we're leaning toward yes) so I haven't tested anything, but if you use an animation that ends in a corpse frame and set that frame to loop, I think it would play your death and leave a corpse. If that's what you're looking for. Will this cover up the fading monster effect? I dunno.
Also, I think this has been discussed before, so you might try searching the boards.
