The application myTut has unexpectedly quit

Hi everybody!
First of all I thank you guys who answered my question regarding an animated dice. Now to my current problem. I'm running Macos X 10.2.4 and the latest download of Coldstone. When I teleport between locations the application unexpectedly quits. How come? I've tried it both on my own project and on the tutorial project with the same result. In the tutorial it happens when I'm trying to teleport between Boberus City and Dragon Cave. Also as posted before I get en error everytime I quit coldstone (the same error). I've been using my coldstone demo for more than 30 days but I guess that can't be the problem, or is it? Will there be an update soon?

Best regards

Farre

I assume when you say the application 'myTut has quit unexpectedly', that you started from the tutorial files/ pdf.
My advice is to create a Medieval demo...(which is what the tutorial will resemble when its done) and pinpoint an study the way it teleports between the two locations, and keep switching bak and forth between your tutorial game and the medieval demo until you can spot the porblem....

...kinda like building a puzzle while occasionally glancing at the box.

as for the problem with unexpected quits under Jaguar...this is a known error, i'm sure someone will step up shortly with a greater explanation...

Demo for more than 30 days:
-try not to build anything of significant worth with the demo
-it wouldn't be the cause of your unexpected quits
-we'll almost definitely need an update...the panther is on the prowl.

... That staples it.

First, anytime Coldstone unexpectedly quits you should reboot your machine. If you don't, stability is an issue.

As to the teleportation problem, a couple things to check:

  • Make sure that the map selected in the teleport event object is loaded/correct
  • Make sure that you set the player's coordinates on the new map prior to the teleport event object(ie, in the event sequence you should call a Map Position followed by a Teleport object)
  • Make sure that the player's coordinates that you are setting are in bounds with the new maps boundaries
  • Make sure that the new map works. Can the player get there any other way? ie, can you make that map the start map? How about create a boundary so the player can walk to it? It may be that the map itself is boogered, and not the teleport action.

Check the above out and let us know what you find.

Good luck!

Thanx guys!
Now it works just fine. I'm not shure what I did but I think I didn't chose the type "map" the first time instead of "main". Anyhow, I've now purchased coldstone and I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on the serial and eventually the CD.

With OS X, I usually find it sufficient to log out and log back in again. Much quicker than rebooting. On OS 9, definitely reboot.

I run on 8.6. If I don't reboot my system will hang after a short while...

This is one thing I really hope is fixed, heh.
