Saving a game

My coldstone games wont let me save. It brings up the save dialog but does not create any files. This is the same in POG. whats wrong?

Hey, welcome to the boards crizak!!! You have encountered the OS X saving bug. Here's the solution (It isn't pretty): Make a file in textedit and call it what you want your save to be called. Then rename it with a .pog extension (in Finder). It will ask, keep .rtf or change to .pog. Click the button that changes it to .pog. Then open PoG and start a new game. Save your game using EXACTLY the same name as the file you created earlier. It will ask if you want to replace it. Click yes. Now, if you want more saves, simply duplicate your existing save and change the name. Once again, welcome!

Thanks for the help! would this also be the case when running a coldstone game in the classic enviroment? i had the same problem with that. Also i'm having problems generating map pictures under OS X. when i create a new map location and try to create the map picture for it it just creates a blank .pct file. if i click it again coldstone crashes.

Another grand OS X bug. Use the classic version and it will work fine (you don't have to boot in Classic, just use classic CS in the classic simulator thingy).

Thanks. These seem like pretty major bugs, is there any plans for another update? its advertised as cross platform but if u cant save and basic features like map generation dont work it doesnt seem like it should have got out of its beta stage. still pretty cool though.

They SAY they will fix it, but I, personally, am unconvinced. The only reason that the bugs are acceptable is that there are workarounds, but they DO need to fix them. You'll just have wait with the rest of us...

I ve seen a topic with someone having the same pbm... and the solution he gave about that was to create a text-file with textEdit for example... give it the name "save01" (this is just an ex... give whatever name you want) and then, when playing Coldstone under OS X, when you want to save, use the name of your text-file (here "save01")... well, in short you have to create artificially your futur save with a text editor... (and of course, create your text-file in the folder where you plan to save your game)
