Someone brought this up in another thread, and I would add to that, but gosh if it wasn't getting on the too hot to handle side. But I saw this once in a multimedia program back in the ought 80s or so. (I always like to bring this up, adds historical perspective. :-)) Anyway it was quite a cool thing. The little scroll dialogue box was a drop and drag sort of thing. Sounds like a possible recommendation for a furture version??

The inventory list is "scrolling dialogue" - can this be used in some other fashion?
(Thanks, Des, for getting us away from the flames)
BTW, I posted the following in another thread but perhaps you didn't see it: If you would like to make your signs look like this instead; To the left of where you type your reply there is a link to (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/webboard/smilies.html")Smilies Legend(/url) which shows the code used by this board. There are other smilies which can be imported from other sourses, but usually these are sufficient. ~RD
------------------ My Doctor said I was having too much wine, women, and song - so I gave up singing because 2 out of 3 is not so bad. The (url="http://"http://mywebpage.netscape.com/rduckfwj/pog/mapnotes.html")Kingdom of Garendall(/url) sectional map is easily printed from gif format pages. Find those areas you missed the first time around. You'll want to explore those hidden areas now made accessible with Spells Expander.

I don't want to see them here or there, I don't want to see them anywhere. I left a group as I got flamed very badly.
Although gee, we are off topic again. But at least it is friendly off topic.

Well RD, I don't really care for them. It is too contrasty for my taste. Also too much reminds me of that awful fad circa 1980s or so of the bright yellow smilies everywhere.

Would be a very nice additive for the future. I really wish dialog boxes would scroll. I invariable write too much in my boxes and CGE then overwrites the choose-your-own answers. Then I have to shorten my dialogs or make multiple dialog boxes. Bleah.
I agree. Flames can be enjoyable in controlled settings(ie, a board set up for flames). But when you are trying to have a serious discussion they do nothing but detract from the conversation and discourage others from joining into the discussion. Thus you can lose a lot of good ideas because of flamers.
Normally this isn't an issue on this board as the mods are pretty discouraging of this type of thing. However, at least 2 of the mods are in college and it is finals week. Thus I expect this board isn't being checked by them very regularly this week. But, they will be back and will most likely deal with this when they do.

Ugh, don't remind me of that. hehe.
Smileys aren't bad when used sparingly to convey the intent in which a particular idea was expressed. Ie, flaming someone and then posting a smiley face shows a light-hearted jest as opposed to a mean-spirited attack. But I do agree that people go way overboard with smileys way too often.
/me shudders.

Additive? YIKES.

Might be nice after "improved documentation". Which apparently those 12-15 year olds don't need.

Back in the good old days, whenever that was, there was alt.flame on usenet. I suppose I just was never/ am still not into it. I feel I can have fun without ripping someone apart.

It seems fairly clean of it. Not nastier than other boards.

I get the chills thinking of it.

I was actually referring to the colored smilies that are on the board here. I have also seen a board with animated stuff going on. Try to read that! I am prolly as guilty as anyone of the overuse of smilies.
