Windows PC Version!

Yes, I think the most important thing to add now is a Windows PC version! Tons more people own a windows PC, why make a product for something most people don't use? I really want to use this and I really think a windows PC version would Great to have!

why make a product for somthing most people dont use? why make a product for somthing that sucks completely?

Well, that's your opinion, But I am only stating the facts!

------------------

They are making a Windows version! READ THE PROGRESS LOGS, MAN! It states (on 12-01-2000):

"A Win32 version of Coldstone (editor only) is now up-to-date wthe the MacOS version and is running well."

Hope that helps!

You can find the progress logs at " (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/news/upcoming/")http://www.ambrosias.../news/upcoming/(/url) "

That doesn't mean they are releasing it. We beta testers are only testing the editor on mac, and the pog guys are testing it on mac too. It's probably an if we have time feature which I hope they don't implement.

Why do you hope they don't release it? What are your guys problems, you think that you are special cause its for Macs only or something? Cause that's what it seems like. Grow Up! Why the Hell should you care if they add the feature? I am a professional animator and I KNOW I can make a great game with this product. But really Grow up people! Saying Windows sucks and that you don't want it for Windows is just childish!
Grow up people,
Brad

I agree with you, altho I am an Apple user, I do realise the benefits of Window's machines.

I realize the benifits of having our games run on windows machines, not the editor. I think the CSE (coldstone editor) should be mac only so we can control the quality and what games are released from it. Imagine, the PC version of coldstone and the guy who has it makes a great game but he decides he won't compile the game for mac "I hate macs" he says. So now, we mac users sit here taking flak from pc users who have a great game that we don't. Moral of the story, if we have the editor run mac only then I am almost certain all games will be out for mac.

Well, I understand your point, But I don't think it would be smart on the developers part to not make the game for Mac, There are tons of people who use Macs and would play the game. But the nice thing about this is if it can make games both for Mac and PC which I think is nice for both people. Really though I am really excited about this and using this thing, free or not. I will post some of my work later!

You calling PC users smart?

If coldstone is mac only I can rest in peace, knowing we got even with em for half life.

Dude, I tried being reasonable with you but I see now you are an immature person who most likely won't be able to do **** with this thing. And I know I will be able to do something great 😉 Also I have already signed up with a publisher.

Sorry, I thought I was dealing with someone mature,
Brad

Here is a shot of the game I am working on the engine I was working with but it is too slow..
Thats why I want to use this, It seems to be much nicer.

I am being perfectly mature about this, I just like to throw in the occasional jab at PCs. I have presented my arguements maturely and my views are straightforward. You want CGE for PC, fine. Take it up with andrew or Dee but judging from the flak they took from the macnn.com forums from PC users I doubt they were too encouraged. If they do decide to make the editor for PC then I bet you will be waiting a long time for it, there will have to be another beta cycle (because we aren't testing the windows version right now).

As for your comments about me not going anywhere with this, we'll see. Just because you have signed with a publisher does not make you better then anybody else here so don't flaunt that attitude.

Well I wasn't flaunting to anyone and I never siad It made me better than anyone. But I am sorry people who say people who use a certin kind of computer are stupid and stuff, doesn't need to be brought up here, but if you want that kindof stuff here it fine with me. I never said anything bad about Macs and I Never will, so don't do it to me. I don't care what other "PC Users' said, They are stupid, But don't take it out on everyone.

Just chill out and it will be all good 8-)

No way are you flaunting it. Anyways, I'll drop it now. Good luck in getting a PC version, and guys, if there ends up being a great coldstone game that isn't compiled for mac well...all I will say is "I told ya so"

Looks nice, what program is it done in? BTW, you don't need to use the tags, just type in the URL and it will recognize it as a link automatically.

:digs out fire extinguisher: OK, stop the flames everybody.

For any of the ignorati out there:
Having Mac software ported to Windows is a touchy subject for many Mac users. Especially when you are approaching a primarily Mac-based software company, you want to take care not to insult what some would call "Mac Pride." If they're a Mac-based company, they're already familiar with the "lots more people" using Windows.

Also, a lot of mac users are very bitter that we don't get editors for shooters, we don't get online RPGs, we don't get a lot of games, period, and would like to have something besides Marathon to call our own.

If Beenox finds it financially viable to release a PC Coldstone editor, they probably will. In the meantime, if you don't bug them about it, they'll probably be more open to the idea.

Also, if you're going to post a screenshot, please use a format besides BMP. Some of us are still on modems at home and would appreciate a compressed image.

Yes lets stop all the flames, I can understand why you would get mad but I guess I am really excited about it, Also No I am not bothering them, just sent some ideas that would help everyone, Like Lighting effects, Equitable weapons and stuff, like in Diablo... And so on, But anyways Ya I like it here, I kindof feel like an outcast cause I got a pc, not used to it 😉 But anyways DarkBlade, I am sorry about what I said, I am sure you will and everyone else can and will make great games.... Also I use Lightwave 6 for the models, and World Builder 2.2 for the grass and all the backdrops... It was actually used in FF7, and is really nice for creating outdoor sceans...

Also another feature to add is Multiplayer.... Cause thats actually what I want most of my game to be, something like Ultima.

But I would like to be able to use it first... then add Multiplayer. But I dunno.
Just a question, How long have they been working on this?

Thanks,
Brad
