Flash.. does it help with Coldstone??

I have the program Macromedia Flash... I was wondering if Coldstone has the ability to use things from Flash. Well can it? And how much help, or rather, does it make animating items or people in Coldstone easier? or harder? or should I just not use Flash?

If I remember correctly Coldstone supports most everything Quicktime supports - and there is rudimentary Flash support in Quicktime. Beyond QT there is no Flash support built into Coldstone.

So my guess is: maybe. 😄

Since you have Flash, it wouldn't hurt to do some tests - I wouldn't expect too much though.

If you do some tests, be sure to report back your findings. 🙂

I'd imagine so
if you were to use it to do the obligatory long dialog scene..

but i don't believe you can use flash for sprites etc,
for instance you'd make a .swf file that contained the left facing portion of the walking animation, that would make it only one frame of animation...whoo hoo but you know have to add in the added size of the format. I asked the same question regarding .GIF files a long long time ago...i had began to work on the animations and realized that i was doing the same amount of work either way.

My advice if you want to shoot a cut scene using other than inGame sprite sets
then i suggest using flash. But for the most part just stick to normal scripting & .png/pict.

Thanks for the advise. I'll start testing with Flash right alway. I'll be sure to tell you'll how good it works with Coldstone. 🙂

Actually I have been thinking of using Flash for everything, and hypothetically it'd be a breeze. You can animate the character walking left in Flash, making it smooth and as many frames as you want. Thenexport the movie and choose a pict-sequence which exports the animation in still frames, pretty much the exact format that Coldstone uses, it can export a pict for each frame or two every frame or what-have-you. Sounds pretty good to me. But try it out, for I haven't had the time yet. Good-Luck, and I'll let you know when I get results myself.

I'm rather sure you can (Publish) Flash into a QuickTime file (Flash 5, anyway). Check under (File) > (Publish Settings).

Generally, you probably need to stick to plain animations. After that, I would export to quicktime. However, flash turns everything to vector format for file size. I would use After Effects instead, if you can afford it.
