Ok I've decided to share another brilliant idea because I think it can't be done without a coldstone modification :frown:
I was thinking of making an event link that changes the character class depending on what you chose. Thus, rather than the typical class menu, you could have a window where you could select a class and it would set a global, you could make certain other attributes that would add to the global, etc. and depending on the value of the global your class would be decided.
Here is an example:
There are a list of 5 links, setting the global at 2, 4, 6, 8, or 10.
There is another choice, between male or female. If you chose female, it subtracts 1 from the global.
If the global is 2, you're a fighter, if 4, you're a wizard, etc. If you're 1, you're a fighter with a female graphic, 3 would be a female wizard, etc.
I can't currently find any way to do a class change other than to manually edit someone's stats and call that a class, but if there is any way, please share!
edit: now for the part where I add in the relevant stuff that I forgot to mention earlier.
With this, we could make custom class dialogs. We could have it show an animation while you are considering your class, make you start off in a different area depending on what class you chose, etc.
Like some of my other suggestions, I feel that this would add a great deal to coldstone's capabilities with a minimal change.
If you read (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/cgi-bin/ubb/postdisplay.cgi?forum=Forum48&topic;=001125")this thread(/url), you'll be convinced that event links will be the bulk of coldstone's power. If we have more event options, event links will be all the more useful.

Surely changing class would simply require adding or subtracting from the global. Using your example, if you're a male wizard (global = 4), but your powers are robbed of you by some nasty deamon and you've been forced to become a fighter (global = 2), all it would take is an event subtracting 2 from the Class Global and a quick player graphic change (I can't remember what the event is called).
If you wanted stat change, you could use the 'Set Stamina, Set Strength, etc' events used in the player creation event.

Well, the purpose I had in mind would be something like this:
There are three nearly identical event links, each with three sections; two grayed out in each event link. You start in an event link with a class selection, a gender selection, and an OK button, the button and gender selection would be "grayed out". As you click a link in the class selection, you go to the next screen which plays an animation of that class, displays some text or an image with text on it that would describe the class.
Once you click a link in the gender selector, it takes you to the final screen where the ok button is clickable, and you see more spesific animations and pictures that show what your character will look like, as well as a portrait. When you click the OK button, the class, player sprite, portrait, etc. are all set depending on your choices.
Above that, class changes can be a big part of a game. I'm reminded of Ogre battle, where weak solders can become several different and more powerful classes, then climb the ladder for each class until they are the most powerful units in the game.
For the addition of a single event option, advanced coldstone users can make class dialogues look as good as any other class-based RPG out there. Not to mention that it would allow people a useful tool in adding to their games.
That would be easy to do if you used maps instead of locations. I'll try it out later.
"maps instead of locations"
...?
Ok, by that, do you mean use map areas as opposed to event links? My point is, there doesn't seem to be any way to change the character's class at the moment. Yes, there are several ways to "fake" it. But without the real thing, there are numerous disadvantages.
I've been hoping for a feature like this also...(sigh)
