question

is there a way to put a global variable (so that it shows what it has stored) in a layout? or a way to put it in a picture?

Globals can be used in dialog -- that much is simple. However, all dialog uses the same pic (selected in the edit menu). The option to add a pic to the specific dialog (these pics must be placed in the Events:Pics folder), places a picture BEHIND the default dialog window. Furthermore, there seems to be no way to adjust placement (it shows up centered in the window). Oh, and in the tests I was doing it locked up the tested game twice, the second time requiring me to restart the computer.

In any case, the plausible work-around might be; create a small, non-descript, or "invisible" (a png that is only transparent) for the default dialog, specify the old dialog picture (the one in the Pictures:Game_Interface folder) for each and every NPC dialog you create, and create a new "Here is your global variable" picture to use for the times you call it.

Do the functionality issues in the dialog picture belong in our requests pile? I've looked over the manual quite carefully and I can not find any clarification there.
