Constant crashes when importing artwork.

Well, I've tried to import some character animations and the program crashes every single time. Obviously, it's something at my end. These are 16 bit PICT files exported from Photoshop, between 12-20 kilobytes each. Anyone know what might be causing the crashes? I can load in a dozen or so before it happens. Once Coldstone just cut out without any error message, another time the system froze when the artwork selection window opened.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. This has to be fixable somehow.

Okay, I tried it with the graphics provided with the demo and it still crashed. So it evidently has nothing to do with my PICT files. Might it be an extension conflict? Anyone else have a similar experience? Presumably the folks at Beenox were able to make PoG without their computers crashing every single time they tried to make an animation.

Sorry; I can't duplicate your experience. I had problems with graphics -- Coldstone is extremely sensitive about exact suffixes (yet they follow no pattern; sometimes 4 characters, sometimes 3....), but not as you describe.

However, it is possible to cause a lock-up when moving files via the Finder while certain windows (sometimes, even the browser window) is open in Coldstone. I had to cold-quit a half-dozen times before I stopped doing this.

How are you importing the files? I found for animations the only optimal way was to drag-and-drop via the finder onto the open animation window in Coldstone, and in order; select-and-nudge was not optimal for re-arranging 64 frames of animation!

Oh, BTW -- no form of indexed color I have tested displays correctly in the final game. In fact, they don't work at all; all I got was hash.

Thanks, I'll have to try dragging them from the finder. I was using the "add" button in the anim editor, which is probably the slowest way of doing it.
