new spells and race

1 : I made a quick escape spell that (SHOULD) simply add to the characters speed temporarily. I can cast it, but I can't select it in my book. Nothing comes up. The weirdest part is that I can keep casting it repeatedly until I simply warp to other parts of the world and it never wears off. I become like an atomic powered energizer bunny.

2 : I created a new race with advantages and drawbacks. It shows up to select when I start a new game but doesn't affect my stats one iota.

I'm sorry to post questions that should be stupid if it weren't for the fact that the documentation is inadequate. I greatly appreciate any response. (Even if it is merely a s######ing comentary on my deficient spelling ability
