I've been reading almost every post but I haven't seen this question. I've got Photoshop 5 but I can't save artwork as a ".png". How is everyone else doing this?

Photoshop 6 can save as PNG. Also, you could use GraphicConverter, which supports conversions between every format under the Sun. (The latter being shareware and would be cheaper to register than Photoshop 6.)

I've got Photoshop 5 too, and I can save as PNG. All you should look out for is if your image is flattened (Layer>Flatten Image) first because if you save it with seperate layers you can only save it as Photoshop format. Once you have flattened your image go to File>Save As.. and in the formats menu, select PNG.
If it is still not working, try to save as a picture or something else and convert it in another program.
