I was just wondering, what would you guys think of a game that uses a different graphic style for every single object. Ie, one enemy is drawn in a cartoon anime style, another in more of a 'clay-mation' style, while some trees look like pieces of paper, and the ground is even weirder. Obviously, the main character would be hard to choose a style for, but do you think that such an idea would come out bad for sure, or have a chance of being pretty cool?

I think such a thing could turn out really well, if done right. The difference in styles would have to have some sort of internal logic, even if it's never explained. Even then, such a thing may end up turning people off to the game because it doesn't seem coherent off the bat.

...have to have some sort of internal logic...
Like, for example, those enemies who are weak agenst fire would be paper-ish? Or something even more subtle?
Like sanehatter said, if you did it right, it would be very cool. But if you didn't, the result would be ugly. It would be pretty hard to pull this thing off. Good luck.

I have no intention of doing such a project, at least not with Coldstone. Hmm. Suddenly I'm wondering why I posted the question here, not elseware.
