I need to know the capabilities of cs
1. can you have NPC's allied with you (the fight along side you)?
2. can you edit terrain with a script?
3. are weather fx possible (rain/snow/lightning/etc.)?
4. can you use a script to change characters mid-game?
5. can you use a script to equip items?
6. can you use a script to change the stats on items?
7. can you use a script to change an NPCs alignment with you when you equip an item?
8. is it possible for characters to ride horses (NPCs and you) and get on/off at will (at least with a script)?
9. is it possible to have NPCs capture you instead of killing?
10. is it possible, instead of haveing multiple choices when you talk, to have to type what you wanna say (like in Cythera)?
thats all i can think of for now, more to come

Well, you're going to have to wait until some official answers are given.
I will say, from general observations, that the answers to 4,5,8 and 10 are yes.
Answers to the others are speculation.

My answers here may be inaccurate, but at least I'm making educated guesses.
1. can you have NPC's allied with you (the fight along side you)? I'm pretty sure you'd have more trouble making them hostile. However, as for them following you around and fighting with you, I haven't a clue. 2. can you edit terrain with a script? I would have to bet so, but there's no way to be sure yet. 3. are weather fx possible (rain/snow/lightning/etc.)? Yeah, but it'd probly be memory intensive and difficult to script. From what I'm told, there is no easy way to do weather fx. 4. can you use a script to change characters mid-game? Actually, it's mostly a matter of changing the character pic and what items each character has. 5. can you use a script to equip items? As was said, it is likely to be possible. 6. can you use a script to change the stats on items? If not, you could probably have the item taken away and replaced with a similer item so it seems it's stats have changed. At any rate, I think it depends more on what stat you wish to change(like number of uses left(ie, arrows, etc.) might have a script option to change it in the item). 7. can you use a script to change an NPCs alignment with you when you equip an item? I think from the fact the the character graphic in PoG changes when you equip a bow, that you can have a script execute upon the equiping and removal of weapons/armor/accesories(sp?), and as such, you could probably have an NPC change alignment with said script. 8. is it possible for characters to ride horses (NPCs and you) and get on/off at will (at least with a script)? This is more a matter of adjusing the character's speed and switching thier graphic set to make it look like they are on a horse(/car/plane/etc.). It might also require the player to change layers - horses might not be allowed inside(onto indoor type ground tiles). 9. is it possible to have NPCs capture you instead of killing? My guess is that a script can be executed when the character dies(although, it may only have certain options, since things like giving money to the player might be useless if their dead), and as such, you might have thier health set to 1 and have them moved into a dungeon where they were captured into if the player has been attacked by a certain NPC and that NPC survived(although not nessasarily survived). 10. is it possible, instead of haveing multiple choices when you talk, to have to type what you wanna say (like in Cythera)? I'm sure that is a likely possibility for talking options in the game. I personally would perfer a mix of the two - talking options with the option of bringing up a new topic(ie, ask a librarian about a city from the past when you were talking with them about chocolate ). Again, please note that you cannot take my word as absolute truth, I'm simply making educated guesses.

As straytoaster has said, educated guesses dont help much at all. This is not just some game where missinformation can just change gameplay a bit and thats it, This is a game maker, and people take up there time trying to make a game and must plan around what the engine can do, and If your wrong about a question you can set them back and waste there time.

Then again, if their questions remain unanswered (as they would), they are likely to run into difficulty planning their project anyways. Please don't make a mockery of others, neither side of the information loop about Coldstone has been very helpful in all cases.

Yes, thats ture, I'll rephrase, true, some info is better then no info at times. but as you said, neither side of the loop is vary helpful at times. This will change soon since coldstone is close to finishing up finaly, So I guess stuff like this shouldnt matter for too long anyway. Just have to live with it I guess.
