Will Coldstone be a free download or a pay-a-fee-and-register software?
------------------
probably a pay a fee thing considering how much work has gone into it.
however, you may be able to download it
What do you mean "maybe"? I prefer that you make it a downloadable and my friends prefer that also. But, hey, it's your product; do what you want with it.
It will probably be just like every other Ambrosia published product available for download with 30-day trial, or by order of CD. However spoiled you may be on fast connections, you must remember that some are not so lucky to have broadband. Unless downloaded and burned, I'm going to have to order the CD.
Upon registering, you will recieve a liscence permitting the distribution of games and access to compile and build functions, if they are not already available.

you and your friends have little say in the matter. I certainly hope they make a profit off of Coldstone. And Saphfire is right, do you have any idea how spoiled and down right arrogant you sound?

Well, sorry if I do sound arrogant but I've always wanted to create my own RPG using a product that creates a good result of a game, not some crapy old "application" And I'd like to use a product that is free, cuz I hate having to pay and register something. If you want to make a profit off of Coldstone, here is my suggestion: Make a game with it and make a profit off that game.

Hehe, you hate having to pay for products, yet you plan to sell yours to others? You want Coldstone free, yet still want to make a profit? It's not that easy. I'm sure Ambrosia and Beenox want to make a profit as well.

What a funny way to think. You were joking right?

Even though I have never registered a thing in my life, I would gladly pay even double price for any of Ambrosia's products just as soon as I get off my lazy butt and earn some money. Thier products seem to be of the few companies whose products are worth well more then is asked for them. If you choose not to register CS, then you are cheating ASW, yourself and everyone else who uses ASW's products. If you think that it is ok for you to just use thier products and expect to deserve getting money for what you make/do with them, you're wrong. If nothing else, register CS with the money you think you can make by selling your game.
I, of course, expect that ASW will make it impossible for unregistered users to make games work the way the users want them to(ie, limited features), becuase it would not be wise to just let it come feature-full, allowing unregistered users to make games only registered users should be allowed to make. And while I know I am at fault for not getting any ASW products registered, I really do want to register them.

It might be a good idea to try and see if Coldstone is "worth" registering, which it probably is. I see your point that you want to make a profit off of it but please take my idea seriously.

No offence, but I just can't blame a newbie for not getting the point of shareware. So, I'll explain it to the best of my understanding and ability.
Shareware works like this; You download or otherwise get your hands on unregistered copies of software. You try it out of the alloted trial period, then decide if you want to keep it or if you don't. If you want to get rid of it, just trash it(or uninstall it if required). If you want to keep it, you either pirate the software(which is illegal, I think), or you pay for it like you would pay for commercial software at a store. Only you do it via the 'net most of the time. Anyways, the point of shareware is to allow a user to try out a product(usually with some features disabled) to decide if they want to keep it, then buy it. It is as wrong to pirate shareware as it is to steal copies of software from stores, etc. It's just a more common practice. Sadly. :frown: If you need any more explaining, just ask pretty much anyone on the 'boards, because most of them get the idea of shareware.

LOL! ok but Kahani, I think you've just made yourself appear more and more arrogant. With that "I hate to pay and register for things" I think you sealed your fate. You're done for the day I'd say.
