Hello - I'm trying to gear up and get a mindset for what I will actually be able to create with coldstone under my budget, and am just trying to find the limitations that do exist in the engine so that I don't put too much weight into those venues. 1- What's the story on transparencies? I understand that coldstone supports multiple layers to create it's graphics, but will we be able to specify different levels of transparncies, have animated transparency layers etc?
2- Can our protagonist run as well as walk? - This is a very important question - especially in designing a realtime RPG. It also helps define enviroments and exploration.
3- When we have a finished game product (Assuming that I get that far :p) will coldstone create an installer application and the necesary files for it to install on any of the three supported platforms?- Files that we could burn to a CD and then move to another computer and install?
4- Rather than creating memory guzzling movies for each smooth transition (to an opening screen for instance) will different effects be built into the engine- just simple ones like cross dissolve?
5- (last one I swear) This doesn't relate directly to coldstone, but to my game - does anyone know of a good shareware app for the MacOS(9.0) that can edit MP3 Music, and convert to different file formats- I'm sure I could manage without one, but the final product would be much more seamless with some solid dedicated software.
Thanks to anyone who takes the time to answer my questions - I appreciate any advice.
(To anyone who has been counting the spelling mistakes in this post - I know I can't spell- let's just look the other way and pretend they don't exist)
Although I have been keeping up with the boards for the past year, I am still unclear as to a definite answer to your inquiries, and am interested in their responses as well. However, I can point you to a great site for your software needs.
Number 5::.For all your MP3 needs, visit this Tucows link: (url="http://"http://macpros.mac.tucows.com/preview/7332.html")http://macpros.mac.t...eview/7332.html(/url)
I'm not sure of exactly what you're looking for, shareware, freeware, or commercial, but there's a wide variety of choices for you to consider.

Well, there are many methods of doing this: 1. Download (Get) SoundApp. It's free, it's cool, it converts to almost anything. 2. Download (Get) Quicktime Pro. It costs around 25 US$, you can edit any sound and movie pretty well. 3.Get iTunes or SoundJam. Both are free, and can convert almost any sound into an mp3.
Follow these steps: Open your mp3 with quicktime. Edit it (Cut away whatever part you don't like) "Save As" a self containing movie. Open your Mp3 converter (player) and concert to mp3. There ya go. SoundApp you don't necessarily need... But it's cool anyway, because you can finally make your own system 7 sounds
Hope this helps

4.) there are some transitions included, though I'm not quite sure how many or of what quality. the fade I've seen used was pretty decent.

1), transparencies: I've asked this question three times, each time getting a different answer. I am assuming that this feature changed between the times... but unless you can get a straight answer, I wouldn't bet on it.
