the pic of the day for today(figure it out) has something about "if reply equals..." Does this mean you can actually type in a reply in your game, or is it just for the "text" games that you can create with it.. Can you create text games with it? I thought you could...
------------------ "I did not choose my role, and I suspect Gerrard did not either"
I'll give you an example of what the event in that pic could do... You need to know a password to get into a hidden area. Let's just say the password is "12345". You could make it so that when the player's icon reaches a specific point on a map, a dialogue pops up that says "What's the password?" If the player types in "12345" then you could let them into the secret area. If the player types anything else in, they wouldn't be able to enter. Oh and by the way, I'm not a beta tester, so I can't breach any sorta' legal beta tester agreement by telling you this.
That is common sense anyways =). That would also be useful in something like this:
Will You Save the Cat? Yes
Of course, that would be the hard way, and the person would have to type YES for it to work. I am sure there is a different way.

Yeah, you can also have dialogue's that have preset answers, which is perfect for Yes/No questions.

the reply if equals can be used for far more expansive purposes than yes or no (like in exile), it can also be used for riddles and possibly for a speech system mimicing Abe's Oddysee...
Consider the possibilities before you...
So Says The Chill!...
::runs off to avoid caprture, (From offender to fugitive while I was sleeping))::
------------------ "Don't send me no warnings, I only rip them up." "what you know about hip hop ?"
It seemed to mee from that screen shot that the speech system, for talking to other characters, would probvably work alot like in Cythera and many other games, there being several presest topics, ie name, job, blah blah, and also a text box for typing in other things. I donnu how I got that idea, it's just what it seemed like to me, I could be completely wrong.

For the sake of decency, I'll restrain myself from commenting on chill's constant spamming. chill, many of these questions are commen sense and it would be a good idea to do your research before asking them. check the picture gallery, check other posts, check the FAQ. What I meant by common sense was that "coldstone is a full featured game editor" and as such, it will be able to do things like that. Keep in mind folks, this is NOT something similiar to EV-Edit or Hera, this makes stand alone games with all the features that your typical stand alone game will have. If you have a legit question though (like the one that began this topic) then ask away. I am just saying, before you ask remember what I said above.

Darkblade, I believe that you might be letting personal feelings influence your posts. 'Common sense' is quite often nothing more than 'jumping to erroneous conclusions'.
Chill can be an annoyance, but only if you let him!
I am a beta tester, but don't look for hidden gems in this message... There aren't any. But I must respond to your remark that: "coldstone is a full featured game editor" and as such, it will be able to do things like that.
If you had been on the Coldstone Hotline Server you would know the answers to your questions Skip=). I am using the phrase common sense so much now I am beginning to think I just use it when somebody asks a question nobody can answer without breaking the silence agreement with ASW.
common sense indeed... some people are a little puffed up with their own importance. For once I agree with Chill. This is a discussion. In discussions there are questions raised. Get used to it.

Come now, Darkblade, relax... :frown:
First, I didn't ask any questions.
Second, I really can't be on every hotline, IRC, ICQ that people put out there that might be of value. I must make choices in allocating my time.
Third, if you can only say 'use common sense', then perhaps it is better to say nothing at all.
I am not intending to be rude, but you again opened your reply with an unecessary comment toward our favorite nuisance, then spoke at great length about the value of common sense and the 'lack of research' that so many posters display in their posts. This site is a 'research source' a place to get your questions answered without spending hours or days running down info from many places. FAQ sites are usually not very current. Almost all questions that anyone might have (including yours) have answers already out there somewhere. Are we all (yourself included) to not ask questions until we have adequately 'researched' all possible sources first?
Of course this site is also a place to discuss Coldstone and offer suggestions and elicit responses from each other as well as the 'authorities'.
But it should be a fun, exciting place... Not a place to argue, gloat or be obnoxious. No I am not saying you are any of these.
The 'original question' seemed to be directed toward the text parsing abilities of Coldstone. I have not explored any aspect of this 'feature'. I do know that 'common sense' will not give me any indication of Coldstone's abilities or lack thereof in this feature.
May we just enjoy one another and his/her input here... If you and others wish to establish other additional places to share that is great. But I like it here. Thanks anyway.
------------------ ...it wasn't me...
oooh I looove this place. I've never known anyone who could deliver such a huge insult so subtely(if that is a word...) and no, I don't believe common sense could answer the original question
In times of secrecy, the thing to say is: "No Comment."
This thread seems to be people shouting at each other about whether things are obvious common sense or not, I think that people shouldn't be picky with other people's messages, but also we need to pay respect to everyone who's here, even if they aren't the nicest people. That'ps the only way a community can survive.
