What is #coldstone? -------------------
#coldstone is an IRC channel (see below if you don't know what IRC is) for discussing Ambrosia's upcoming game engine Coldstone -- and it's open to the general public. C'mon in and hang out -- the principles working on coldstone will be there from time to time (the Beenox team, beta testers, Andrew Welch, etc.).
Please respect the fact that no one on the coldstone team will be able to reveal confidential information to you about the coldstone project, and that they will be busy working on coldstone, so they may not have too much time to chat.
Also please respect each other in #coldstone -- let's keep the level of discussion at least somewhat civilized and productive. We've just put this channel together, so give it a little time to get up to speed.
How do I join in on the chat? -----------------------------
Set up your IRC client (see below if you do not have an IRC client) to join the private Ambrosia server:
irc.ambrosia.net
(because this is our own server, we will not be affected by net splits, lag, and other such nonsense)
Once you are connected to the IRC server, join #coldstone by whatever means your client provides (for Ircle, it's a menu item), or type:
/join #coldstone
What is IRC? ------------
IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat; it's a rather geeky, archaic system of chat (similar to AOL's chat room), but it works fairly well, and is accessible by anyone around the world.
In order to chat on IRC, you'll need a client. Some popular Mac clients are:
Ircle -- (url="http://"http://www.ircle.com/")http://www.ircle.com/(/url) (shareware) ShadowIRC -- (url="http://"http://www.shadowirc.com/")http://www.shadowirc.com/(/url) (free) MacIRC -- (url="http://"http://www.macirc.com/")http://www.macirc.com/(/url) (free, but unsupported)
I'm sure there are others; Ircle is by far the most popular Mac IRC client, however it isn't free, and it will eventually stop working if you don't pay for it (it's well worth it).

Thanks Andrew! Don't stop coming to the server though, that's where the upcoming projects are!

Not to mention 3D modelers, sound utilities (I have no idea what to call them ) and other helpful apps.

Whee. I love IRC.
This has renewed my intrest in Coldstone.
