Beta Testing

yeah, a board with a password..to ensure privacy, that could be helpful to the testing process

------------------
Armorments, chapter two, verses 9 to 21- And Saint Atilla raised the hand grenade up on high saying, "O lord, bless this thine hand grenade, that with it thou may blow thy enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy." And the Lord did grin, and the people did feast upon the lambs and sloaths and carp and anchovies and orangutans and breakfast cereals and fruit bats....."

Has anybody posted to the list yet? Unless something is wrong with my settings I haven't gotten anything besides the 2 messages from andrew. Anyways, could somebody post something to the list? That way I can see if my filters are working.

this would also speed up the bug finding process because we would be able to tell all what bugs were found and what they did. That would allow another person to verify it and all the rest to avoid it.

No, you are not to discuss anything about Coldstone with anyone who is not on the beta list, unless explicit permission is given. The beta list will be the place where you can discuss things that you are trying to do with Coldstone.

I think he meant a private forum for beta testers. I think that's a dumb idea... Stuff should be discussed in the mailing list, which will also save some server space...

By other members I believe he meant other members of the test, as opposed to other members of the boards

Oh, 2 questions:

With netscape, is there a way I can have it format email for the size of the window that I am using? Right now I just have to scroll horizontally until the sender decided to manually start a new line.

Also, on the board, does my name appear as Phoenix with an accented i, or Phoen'x? (Or does it depend on the computer?)

I dunno, but don't use Netscrape, it sucks. Get Outlook Express. Oh yeah, any anti-Microsoft flamming from anyone and I'll lower your karma, I'm fed up of hearing loads of stuff like that

It depends on the font the viewer has set in his browser preferences. At the moment it's Pheonix with an accented 'i', but I have seen it with an apostrophy.

I see an accented i. It probably depends on your browser though.

I like Outlook Express and IE, how 'bout raising my karma a bit?

If I were a mod, I would lower anyone's karma who asked a question like that...

Time for my trademarked sigh. That was sort of meant to be humerous. I guess it wasn't really. I'll keep my comments serious from now on.

"A swing and a miss!"
Anyways to avoid this being interpreted as spam I'd just like to say that I am looking forward to seeing the beta.

You can joke. I was just saying that if I were a moderator, I would do that. I am not, so it doesn't matter.

You are correct in your assumption. I meant the other members of the beta test. I know not to let anybody else even know of the program. I think it would be a good idea because it would allow us to find bugs faster.

And now for something
completely different...

No one signed up, the Coldstone beta testers were hand-picked by Andrew.

Is that right? If so, I'm kind of annoyed. Every time anyone said "I'm interested in beta testing" on this board, some moderator would tell them "respectfully" to wait for the beta announcement. But there was no announcement...I understand you want experienced people, but a few beginners would help, just to show that it's easy to use. And just because people don't post often on this board, it doesn't mean they aren't interested, it probably only means they saw nothing worthy of posting.

There is no way in the world I can please everyone; someone will be left out. I'm sorry if that upsets you, but realize that there is realistically nothing I can do about it.
