Karma...

With the new karma meter by your number of posts, this arroused a question to me with Coldstone. Can I encorporate a karma counter in Coldstone? Like in Fallout our D&D;? I think it would be a great idea. 😄

I think it is possible (i say this with no certainty heha), but I don't see why not....but also i think it would be easier to just make a "luck" attribute for characters, or something to that effect

------------------

With the use of events, I'm pretty sure this is possible. Might even be easy, just link up actions which would cause your karma to go down, and other actions which would cause it to go up.

i thought i saw something about karma in a pic of the day. i could be wrong though...

I saw that picture too. It was around luck and morale, and you could adjust the karma of different characters. I believe, and I say believe because I may be wrong, that you can implement karma into the game.

If you can (and there better well be a var creator *shakes fist and random persons) create variables, just have certain actions increase and decrease. And then if you want, make some menu that displays that number/graph to the player!

Tucks thumbs under suspenders
Yeahhh. Me and the old boys used to do that back in the days of RM2K. But no one seemed to care. Well thats what yah get for life.

The Karma Meter sounds interesting, rather a rating of how your actions appear (allignment) to others good/evil. I was wondering if I could set up the way people greet you and treat you by your "KARMA".

Also educated Coldstonians : "Is it possible to set up new 'vital displays'and have it visible to the player), such as HP, MP, EXP. Please say it's so, or I'll have to change the system for the colab-project known as 'Dominus'...look for it...

Fixed -- please post only using that registered account from now on. Thank you.

What would make sense is if you could define your own attributes, rather than Coldstone defining them for you. For instance, you could have an attribute called "L:KJWUIEJHEW" and Coldstone would allow you to do that.

I got the impression that they are gonna give us lot's of freedom in making our games, so if you want to make that gibberish attribute, why not?
and by Karma do you mean what you have done in a past life that is affecting your position now, or alignment in good or evil terms, or your "reputation" and how NPC's react to you, like lowering their prices of merchandise or something...

yeah for karma, I kinda like the past life thing, I mean you could make it determined by your character class, ok I'm going no where with this.. try to understand, it's been a long week and its only monday

Yeah I'm confused by
this signature thing...
Lorenoth? right...

I would love to have a feature where NPC's interact with you differently based on karma, i.e., if you saved the little boy from drowning in the well, that would be 5 karma points. If you murdered an old, helpless woman, that might be -6 karma points. Basically, karma is like rumor spreading about you. It's the voice of the people, rumor is, and they react differently if they hear bad rumors (a.k.a. you have bad karma).

Right -- and something else that I've seen done to good effect is that the karma has an epicenter at the location of the event. How badly think of you falls off with distance from the event.

This is a simple model of the idea that as people get further removed from the event, they care less about it, or are less likely to have heard about it.

So, for example, in India you wouldn't be divine if the board was like a game with that?

No, Ambrosia has agents all over the world spreading Mokism. It's a new fad of a religion in India, and zambezi's plan of domination there is going well. 😉

Grinick a criminal !?, and I thought I was the only "bad man" on the 'board...

Speaking of Karma will there be a luck rating in the status menu
I would like to have that as a driving force over Karma.

(There's a lot of games of Chance in my game, including; russian roullette, high card,3 card monty, slots, fortune tellers etc.)

(Will there even be a status window? ... Hey we've been asking all these questions on what we can and cannot do...here's a better question "What does this thing actually look like/Well how ugly is it ?)

I'm digging up this topic because i think that Karma is a very good idea. i just dont think you people are taking it far enough. Smasher and Lorenoth are right; you should incorporate a karma meter into your game and it could be basically, as Lorenoth said, a measure between good and evil. But Supersonic is right too. You should connect the Karma meter with luck, for activities like gambling--odds are for you or against you, and maybe shooting arrows--probability of you hitting your target, and so on. I'm thinking you should connect both reputation with luck to the Karma meter for an outstanding effect. Also, you could incorporate a Karma picker at the beginning of the ame, where you could choose your karma--highest would be that you would, with my suggestion above, be loved by everyone, win almost everygame of chance, but the downside would be that everyone's expectations of you would be MUCH higher than normal--they would want you to kill an extremely strong enemy, when all you have is a puny little sword. The lowest karma setting would be that you would be hated by everyon everywhere, and even nice innocent people would occasionally attack you, and you would have the lowest odds in the game of chance, but people would not look up to you and stare starry-eyed at you and ask you tokill the strongest enemy before you have a weapon that could even HURT it. or you could set your karma to the center, and you would you wouldn't be loved by anyone, but you wouldn't be hated, you would most likely have 50-50 odds in that game of chance, and you would only be expected to kill enemies of a little bit higher level than yours. That would be my advice for all of you who wish to produce the finest game ever made with Coldstone.

Peace out.
