Ok never mind my story, it was bad.... go ahead and put down yours
(This message has been edited by Lorenoth (edited 12-21-2000).)
Here's the basic outline, which I may or may not go with. Nothing's written in stone at all. The setting's feudal Japan, and you're either a Samurai or training to be one, (however it worked, I'll do some research), but you start to realize that the guy you work for is not a very swell chap. I suppose you either leave or help the guy's wife escape and get caught, so you go on a journey that initially is a high minded quest to squelch injustice wherever you see it. Somewhat predictably, you realize that things aren't always set in stone, and that right and wrong aren't always clear cut. (I think I'll have the classic example of someone stealing to help a poor family to help illustrate my point). Now, I'm going to try to make the story as non-linear as possible, and you'll have the option of being somewhere from getting completely cynical and hardened or possibly adopting a somewhat taoist view. There'll be at least 2 endings, and I don't exactly know who the big bad boss will be, or even if there will be one. (I have some idea but I'm not going to ruin it for you all.) Like or no like?

alright for a brief outline of well something..........
Ok there are 9 beings that were created or altered by some unknown mage, you are one of them, and each one serves a specific purpose. You have to work with each one of them in order to discover your purpose, and this is no simple task. Some of them are downright evil(Kiron the Dragon Elf), or just plain stupid(Torax the Half Ogre). On the other hand some are friendly(Kayalin, the half elf that isn't half human, somewhat of a mystery), or even too friendly(Xsora, the attractive Elf/Nymph). If any of the 9 die, then its game over, you need them all in order to face the big bad boss at the end(given the information here I bet you can't guess who it is, I'll give ya a hint: unkown)

I haven't gotten the story incroperated into it though here it is so far. It starts out as Jhonathan (Temporary) working in a lab that was an old military base and is joined by Sara (Aso temporary)This lab is privatly funded and to their knowledge they have been working to genetically alter the human structure to re attach limbs esc. But the funder of the lab took a select few scientist and told them to create a super-human being. The human body could not hold this kind of power so they begins to manipulate the human form to get what they wanted. The reserch every one else was doing added slighly to the greated whole. They made it into a breathable virus to make transition faster. Then when Jhonathan and Sara are on their lunch break the power shuts off and all hell is let loose. The test subjects begin to kill every one in the lab. Jhonathan and Sara get to the lower level to see what happen to only find a partner half transformed into a monster. He tell them that that the others have taken the virus and loaded into several rockets in the missle silo. Jhonathan and sara engage the docking clamps in the last & most deady rocket with a virus called Dragonis. They manage to destroy it by shutting the silo doors but are to late for the rest of them. They make it out in time to have the see the whole area explode. Unfortunatally they are infected with Dragonis. It ends their and goes into the traditional RPG style. All those who were incompatible with the virus grouped and held agenst the monsters. This is as far as I got with the story. It is accually 9 pages. I based it on my story because I though it would make a good game. I had a goal to write a page every day. I stoped now but this game will continue the story. If anyone wants the full version ask me and it e-mail them it. Any comment's, suggestions, ideas of your own are welcomed. Note I have changed the name Johnathan to Cilan and Sara to Aliaa. Now I am done... hopefully.
------------------ Hmmm. One doller for eternal happieness? Mmm no I think I would be happier with the
the whole laboratory thing is obviously a good idea, I mean take a look at how good HalfLife was. #1 game of all time and that, of course they said that about Warcraft2 as well, not that it wasn't a good game. I'm not implying that you're copying half life because the storylines are so different. yeah you know... MERRY CHRISTMAS
I just came up with a basic outline. No stealing! It is called the Dragon's Fang. Presented to you here in novel format (this is just the intro): As the thunder boomed with the flashing of bolts of lightning, as the rain poured down, a man entered The Weary Man's Rest. His face shrouded, in the shadows, he wore armor, looking like scales, in crimson and golden black."Who do you think you are, barging in here at this time, in this weather?" shouted the Innkeeper. "I am a knight." he coolly responded, almost hissing. "I can see that, fool, but there is something odd 'bout you." "Thatsss becausss... I am also a dragon." Lightning flashed as if to illustrate his power. Those who had been staring gasped in horror. He stepped forward, revealing his face. His mustache made him quite a dragon, and his eyes...his eyes were pure red, as red as blood.
What do you think? I might make that into an rpg.
Ooh a dialog! FUN! Maybe I'll do that... muhuhahahahaa
Hmmm... Methinks any innkeeper who calls knights "fool" to their face on a regular basis, even if provoked, will not last very long in your typical medieval society... And how does a mustache make you "quite a dragon?"

I see your point. This is all subject to change. And, thanks for the criticism  . Thanks so much

In this post, you ask for the opinions of those who read it...

Now, when an opinion is given, you roll your eyes...
Well, it could have been a bit more supportive, but, yeah, you're right.
Sorry, Nyros2! I forgot a line in my previous reply:
  I love it!!!!!!
Is that better?
Okay, here is my idea. (Trumpets blare in the background)
The time is about 1000-1200 years after a massive nuclear/biological war. About two-thirds of the population was killed durring the initial few years, and another half a million died of radiation and lingering biological agents over the next ten years. Most of Western North America and South-East Asia were rendered completly uninhabitable.
Those humans who survived found themselves in a world almost completly devoid of modern technology. Forced back into a world of limited luxuries, they made do with what they could, going from guns to swords, from cars to horses.
From the stew of chemical and biological agents that were feilded, as well as the labs of scientists looking for creatures to use as weapons, many new forms of life came into being. Many resembled mythological animals, (Dragons, Chimeras, Sea Serpents) while others were completely alien (Vicrons, Proto-Dragons).
Also from the toxic coctail came sentient life. As apposed to the one human race before the war, now seven setient races vie for control of the planet. Six magicly gifted races, each aligned with a certain element of nature. Tel'Ran (Water), Tel'Pyr (Fire), Dwarves (Earth), Canthar (Air), Elves (Light), and the Wampere (Shadow). Then humans, with little magic to speak of.
Being faced with the might the of socerery exibited by the other races, the humans resorted to what they are best at. Technology.
Now human factory churn out war macines, steam powered contraptions armed with deadly cannons (iron ball and black powder types, not modern shell-types), as well as newly re-invented muskets and rifles.
In return, the Elves (Humanity's chief enemy) have started advancments of their own, creating magicly inhanced arrows which can fly straight through the toughest human armour, spells of deadly magicks which burn holes in ranks of Human solders.
As the war rages of, neither side has the clear advantage. The Human's Technolgy and the Elves Magic seems evenly matched.
As far as the other races go, they are, for the most part, all staying nuetral in all this. The reptilian Tel'Ran are friendly towards everybody, the Tel'Pyr (close relatives of the Tel'Ran) have all but disapeared, The cat-like Canthar like anybody who seems interesting at the moment, the Dwarves have shut themselves up in thier underground vaults, and the Wampere disapeared centuries ago.
Whew. That's all I got cooked up right now. What you think?

Thanks, Glenn.
Well I never played halflife so i have no idea what your talking about. I know the game but not much about it. I started to give copys out to my friends and now I am waiting for their feed back.
Servack: It's a great background. I like the Canthar(their interest with the current power seems a lot like cats to me). But it really sounds like its cooking up to a RTS game. Maybe you should add some names and heroes.
