ah i just got this idea, A Civil War RPG...get this, its set against the backdrop of a country at war, you are a spy for (which ever side) stationed around the mason dixon line. In the game you have to perform succesful spying and infiltration missions, and help raid armories and such too. Interact with people on both sides for whatever purpose, slip past picket lines and complete your goal. Tell me if this has potential or not............

Very sharp idea. I'm working on a RPG set in ancient Rome so it looks like the CGE is something that will break many boundries.

sigh, please, for the love of god, read the FAQ. First of all, Coldstone has not even been released yet, it isn't even in beta. Next off, the coldstone game engine does not allow games to be networkable. Please, save us the trouble of having to explain anything else by reading the FAQ BEFORE you post questions. BTW, you're post wasn't funny.
That sounds like a great idea. Make sure to throw in some tidbits of historical facts, though. By the way, do you have a website that you can put your storyline up on? I would be very interested.

It sounds like a pretty good idea but I think it will need a whole lot of work put into it. The whole spy thing would be nice, and a welcome change, but if you don't do it right just trying to avoid everyone would get boring. Also, keep in mind that in a more real life type game, a character improving too much through level ups would be somewhat unrealistic. I'm not saying that it can't be good, (everyone liked metal gear solid), but you have to make sure you know what you're getting into. Coldstone is an rpg maker, and your game sounds as if it doesn't fit that mold very well at all. Good luck, though; I'd like to play a civil war game. It would be a welcome change.

The spy thing wouldn't get boring if you made sure there was enough action anyway. Ever play Perfect Dark on the level area 51 Rescue, or the level Air Base? If you had mission objectives that were fun and hard, a realistic and interactive enviroment, and ways to secretly engage an enemy behind everyone's backs(like with the crossbow or silenced falcon), then it would be great.

Hey, I love spy type games, even if it's hard to resist the urge to just rush into a room of enemies completely unstealthily and just fight it out to the death fair and square...The thing is, I'm betting it would be hard to have a realistic and fun way to sneak around with Coldstone. I'm just saying that making a game like this would require some serious work and might be virtually impossible to make in coldstone. Again, I like the idea, and I really hope it works, but unfortunately I don't know about the feasability of such a complex action system.

I think there was an earlier post on character 'awareness,' an attribute which a character would have which would define its ability to see things around it. A spy could wear something that would decrease his enemies' awareness and therefore could be stealthier.
On the topic of awareness, it's good that you heard something about it. I certainly hope that enemy awareness is advanced enough to make a spy game where the spy action itself is enjoyable feasable. On the other hand, making a really good awareness would be pretty hard. The bottom line is, it seems to me that Coldstone is a game where the fight system is supposed to be fun, and it's not really meant for spy games. Here's my suggestion on making this game: Interaction galore! You probably can't make the entire game in the mold of Metal Gear Solid. I think that a lot of the espianage action should be puzzle solving and, most of all, talking! I know it sounds boring, but having lengthy conversations and getting information out of people can be fun. There is, of course, room for fighting in an espianage game, but it would be unrealistic to take out a whole bunch of soldiers, dungeon style or anything. Hmmm...I hope that my thoughts prove useful and that I haven't completely misinterpreted your intent for the game....

Yes, actually it was quite amusing. It bears a certain resemblance to requests about EVN. I found it very, very amusing.
I don't really care whatever other people want to do in their games. I think that having a spy/fighting game is just as good as a spy/talking game. Remember, in Coldstone, the sky is the limit.

your right, you should make a game that pleases you. You shouldn't try to make a game that will appeal to the most people, it would simply have no personality or individuality.
