3D levels

Can I have 3D levels in Coldstone? Not 3D graphics, but actually multiple story levels? Sort of like building a skyscraper. Is that possible?

Maybe I need some clarity. Can multiple story buildings be made in Coldstone?

of course. just have it set so that when a player reaches the stairs, it changes the map to the next/previous story

Well, I think what would be good is if you could have continuous movement between levels, instead of opening a new map, like having transparency around the staircase to show that you are walking up it...

Last I knew, there wasn't going to be transparency support, and I don't know how you would hack it out.

you can always make psuedo-transparency, deleting every other pixel from a graphic

Could height physical damage be done in the game? (For example: Flying to your bloody death off of a mountain or castle)

You could probably have height-dependant damage, but this I think has a little to do with the interfacing; for instance, how would you show something like falling off a cliff? Would the player's sprite get smaller until it hits the ground? And how would you reconcile this with projectiles, as in, would you need a projectile for sending people off cliffs? It would have to have variable damage because the damage would have to be dependent on the height of the cliff or whatever. If you can have this feature in Coldstone, I think that getting damage from heights would be no problem.

Hmmm, the sprite could get smaller, and the view isn't directly above the character. It's sort of like Fallout's interface. I could think of a way to show falling...

That would be a good idea. Two thumbs up. Make sure to tell the rest of us how you can do it, if you figure it out.

Another question: what kind of view angle do you have?

Answers, anyone?

the view is more from above than Baldur's Gate, but not as much as Warcraft 2.
and what I've gathered, correct me POLITELY ahem if I'm wrong, but I believe that the actually terrain is 2D, like most RPG's that are seen from Bird's Eye View, but the characters are 3D.
So someone earlier suggested making separate maps for each level of a tower, and that would be so much easier than what I have done in the past with Starcraft Maps(let's not get into that), and I think that that suggestion(yes I want 2 that's there) is the least complicated and best one there is so far.

Yeah I'm confused by
this signature thing...
Lorenoth? right...

"but I believe that the actually terrain is 2D" when I said actually I meant actual
