Kinds of games...

With Coldstone, would you be able to make a game kinda like EV? Or with a little bit of tweaking would you be able to make a space sim? example: what if we had a map for each level, and once you finished mission objects(like maybe blowing something up) an event would take place that would take you to the next level. You could have a starscape as a map and your guy would be a ship, and before each level a text screen could come up saying mission objectives. Could you do this?

Zelda rules, and you all know it.

besides the question if you could do it or not, i think this type of game completely negates the main purpose of Coldstone, methinks

nwa728: Sort of. Movement is tile based (like Realmz, Cythera, FF1-6, etc.) so you couldn't have the same sort of movement system as EV, but a space rpg with the features you described should definitly be possible.

Okay, time for a little story....

How many of you have heard of Blizzard's Diablo? (Game of the Year, why haven't you? ;)) Anyways, those of you who've played the game have noted that the whole thing is tile based isometrics. Their major mistake: the everything was based on a tile the size of a character's footspace. Not too smart; with a fast enough attack, any knockback ability was worthless! On top of that, it created delays that could sometimes be deadly to your character; imagine getting killed because you had to cross to another tile before you could attack your killer! If CSGE is tile based, I suggest that Ambrosia learns from Blizzard's mistake: as in Diablo II, the tiles (if any) should be far smaller than the characters' footspace. Preferably the size of items, since no such problems arrived with that setup in Diablo II. I should know, I've been spending 12 hour days playing the game.
