I am fleshing out my ideas on what sort of game I would like to make, and I have been attracted to the idea of a futuristic, underworld sort of game. Not underworld like demons, but underworld like the mob, drugs, etc. Will Coldstone have the capabilities I would need? What I have in mind is this: You start out as this ordinary dude (with blue hair ) and you start working some small time stuff. After you complete a few jobs for people, you get hooked up to some more major league stuff. What I am shooting for as a main plot is the character gradually moving up in the underworld, until he is a small time boss, and then trying to whack the other bosses. It would be cool if I could have a certain amount of randomness in the game, so that it wouldn't be like, play it once, and you're done. To beta Coldstone users (and anyone else who wants to reply), do you think this will work?

From what I've heard so far, you can make the game as relevant to whatever you want. You can make an underworld where crime runs rampant. you can make this in the far past where fantasy takes over or in the future which is more sci-fi. As a reply to your queston, yes I think this will work quite nicely.

I kinda beat you to the punch. I started to make a game a while ago with the old CGE called Hoodlum, which is almost exactly like what you said. Im not making it anymore though, so your welcome to the concept.

I want to make our game re-playable, too. If Coldstone lets me do what I want to, which it probably will, the game won't play the same way twice -- unless you want it to. :).

I hope so too. I'm already in the process of creating the storyline, text, some additional artwork, and linear plot(s) through a CGE-based game set in ancient Rome (or some distant backwater province of said Empire). Goal? Stay alive (Fate and your political and military enemies are fickle), advance your character, and solve .......... ?

Spiderweb Software's game Nethergate was very similar to that. It took place in the British Isles.
