I don't think anyone really knows... No one's even really sure how the progress of the program itself is going.

Andrew said it wouldn't enter Beta this year, so I reckon it'll enter Beta early 2001 (around February), which would leave it to be released about August 2001.

Hmm... If I remember correctly, it was already in beta when it was just Beenox working on it. I have on of the old betas on my hard drive, in fact.

Well, it depends on your definition of "beta" -- I don't consider Coldstone to have ever been in beta, no matter what it was previously labeled. I consider it to have been in development.
I don;t mean to question you at your own game, but it'll take longer to Beta than other Ambrosia products such as EV, mainly because it's much more complex. I think that around six months would be the right mark for a good test, buuuut...your the boss.

It probably will take longer but he probably will also have a hell of a lot more people testing. That way the errors will be found quicker and the game can be released earlier.

It may not take that long to beta test, but there's also got to be a period of bug fixing, adding new features, et cetera, before both the Coldstone engine and Coldstone game editor are have been tweaked.

I, personally, think that we would all like to beta test. Infact I know almost everybody on this board wants to beta..if they don't..then they are messed up! So I think Amborisa should just request beta testers off their message board.
For example: I would be posting on the Coldstone message board a lot and the people at Ambrosia think that I would make a good beta tester so they send me an E-mail asking if I want to beta test Coldstone.
I think that would be a bit better than the "first come first served." thing. Anyhow that's my idea (just because I wanna beta test it soo bad! ) -tRiP
I'll second that. However, I'm currently doing story writing and concept art, and soon I'll be moving on to actual plot mechanics and graphic creation. I'm doing this now in hopes that when the beta is announced, I'll have something to show the Wonderful People Who Make Decisions About Who Betas Ambrosia Products that I'm serious about using this tool. I'll post info and mocked-up screenshots when I have something substantial.
And FWIW, I was actually employed for a year-and-a-half as a Mac software tester for a company--unforutunately one so dysfunctional it went out of business / was swallowed by REAL networks. This was in the early days of streaming media, so I may be a little rusty, but still... I'm familiar with the need to recreate how a specific bug works.
Well, you guys both registered this month, so you probably don't know this; Andrew (Welch), and the other Ambrosia people don't like to be pestered about beta testing. If you do bother them about it, you probably won't be on the beta team. Your only chance of getting on the beta team would be the (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/news/upcoming")Upcoming(/url) page.
Oh, and btw, those who have only just posted, I would like to say that I have registered this name as a fresh start. I've been on the boards for just under a year now, and I don't want you getting any ideas.
Also, I would like to say that CS is all I ever wanted since I played Realmz, and not to be a beta tester would disrupt my already-delicate mental system quite badly. :frown: ~Gav

Hey Gav, when did you register the name Gavin? It could have been purged for inactive use if you registered it 6 months ago. I know you were around then so I ask. Here, I will check
