OK... The obvious question. Is there any indication of whether or not Darwinia will be recompiled for dual-binary to support the new MacTels that are coming out next year?

I agree. BUT... that does not mean it will be. I understand that code written with Code Warrior will be difficult to port, whereas code written and compiled with Xcode will be simpler. I guess I would like to know if this program was written with Xcode. Then it should be a simple matter. If not... well... I already paid for it, but I would like to use it on newer systems when they come out.
It was written in MSVC++, and then ported to Mac. I see no reason why they should not be able to port it to Xcode if necessary, infact it would be simpler because there is no change in endian-ness.
