These are probably just dumb questions but i thought I might ask
What's the Sandbox level for? You cant do anything there besides watch the triffid. Does the absorb for officers kill the nearby darwinians for the shield? Can battle cannons ever become armor again? Can armor shoot without changing into a cannon? I already beat the game but I am playing it over and I want to find out all the features.

Nothing, really. It is just a more or less empty map. You might use it to figure out how to mod the game, or what buildings you can use. It has no importance in the plot of the game, and no bearing on the rest of Darwinia.

So far as I know, yes.
