woohoo! tournament! excitement!!

This will serve as the official announcement: I'm holding a tournament in three days, on Saturday, January 31st, at 12:30 Eastern time. That's 9:30 for me here in California, 5:30 PM in England and 6:30 in CET.

So come on folks, (url="http://"http://www.flashracer.com/pop-pop/")sign up(/url) and come and play! This is the first tournament I ever hosted; help me out here! Only four people are signed in so far, and if even one person isn't able to show up we won't be able to have much fun.

Is there still a pop-pop tournament list? Can I get a message out on it? Mods? Also, I'd send the message out to the beta list, but I don't have the address right now cause my real computer is currently in transit, being shipped across the country. Could someone else pass the message on, or just remind me what the address is for the list?

And I'll see you on the tracker! 😄

Hi!
I'm one of them which signed in, but maybe I'll not able to play in the tourney, I'll know this more exactly in one or two days. Sorry.
If this tourney have to be cancelled, you should wait for the Windows-version, maybe there'll be more people joining then... 😕

Greets, Eno

Wow, a tournament, im in, I need to go re learn my game

As much as I would love to play and be involved in the tournament, I'm afraid it's not possible. My life has become astonishingly complicated, for better and worse, and pop-pop doesn't get nearly enough of a look in. Good luck to everybody who'll be involved. I hope it's a roaring success!

squibix- I have an email list of most of the regular tournament players if you want it.

Hi. I'm Dingo. Can I have your baby?

I'm in.

An AOL modem connection should work fine for pop-pop...right? Never really tried it before....

The Webpage:
...and is playable from anywhere in the world, even over slow modem Internet connections.

I've never had any problems with it while using AoL on a modem.

Well, good luck to all the players! Saturdays will never work for me but oh well, maybe the next one will be on a Sunday.

I am still going to try and be there. I've just logged in to the (url="http://"http://pop-pop.webhop.net/")tourney site(/url) and there are now 7 players!

True. But this is a Saturday tourney, which was always going to be hard to get many players. Sunday's best.

Whatever, it is quite sure that I'll be able to join 🙂
See you in a few hours!

Yay! May I suggest that everyone participating in the tournament get on IRC--server irc.ambrosia.net, channel #pop-pop--so we'll be able to coordinate things? IM chat (room poppop) is also an option.

(edit: oh yeah, rules. There are 8 people signed in right now. If all of them show up, we'll have the top four players move on to the second round, which will be 1v4 and 2v3. If only 6 or fewer show up, only the top two will do the second round (unless there's a public outcry to the contrary). All games will be three rounds on expert. And, all pops should be open to use by all players: tournaments are the one time we agree to just play our harderst to win, with no hard feelings about irritating tactics. Does that sound reasonable?

Edit 2: more rules... (I'm not all awake yet, forgive me). Everyone plays everyone in the first round. Keep a scrap of paper by you to record your score: who won, and by how much. When you have a moment, add your scores to the tournament system. Erm... I think that's it.)

See you on the tracker!!
