Fans of our game (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/games/pop-pop/")pop-pop(/url) organized an (url="http://"http://www.ambrosiasw.com/webboard/Forum67/HTML/000246.html")unofficial pop-pop tournament(/url) held today.
From all indications, it appears to be quite a success. If interest holds, we may consider making this more official. Check out some pictures from the event:

Yeah, the tournament was great! It was a lot of fun, and I would like to say thankyou to Ankles for hosting the tournament
BluePot
tournaments are great...I would love to have more...what are the chances of making these more official? because I think that would definitely help the tournament idea out a lot...

The tournament was a success by all counts. Everyone there enjoyed themselves, acted civilly and had a great time. Come on down and enjoy the fun. The more the merrier.

Of course we acted civilly! We love playing! It's on the boards that we're not civil; and thank goodness, cause being civil all the time makes me sick!
And the tournament was indeed a success... though my ego would have been better served if I hadn't had to play that last game with SHOES. I hope that the next couple tournaments go as well, so andrew brings them under the Ambrosia banner; and then we'll have something else to complain about and the incentive to start our own, independent, guerilla tournaments. Let's hear it for future excitement!
And of course, a big thank you to the organizers for forgoing their own chance to play in order to organize all this nonsense and keep things flowing relatively smoothly for us demading children waiting in the lounge! But, while I understand that anklebiter might not be interested in competing (though we really wish you would!) there has to be some way we can get Number279 involved in the action; I'm sure you could find folks willing to take over the hosting duties on a rotating basis so you'd be able to play.

I don´t understand why hosts shouldn´t be able to play the tournament as well. At least MSX and Helix did, when they hosted. Maybe players would have to wait a little longer for the results of the first round, but who really cares? Of course that doesn´t mean that I´m against rotation of hosts. But that was the thing why previous tournaments weren´t repeated more often, because nobody was willing to take the part of the host. So now, I guess all of us, can be really very happy that finally there are two persons that engage themselfes to take over that job

Indeed! (Thanks guys!) But I think you're right that they could also participate in the tournaments if they wanted; I know I wouldn't mind a little extra wait myself, and also mostly people know before the official results come out whether they'll be advancing to the next round or not; so all the wait would be for would be the exact pairings of the second round.
