A possible bug...

The first time I played pop-pop on my computer, a 266mhz G3 iMac running 10.1, it ran fine. The next time I ran the game, it was slow. So slow, I could barely move the cursor. Quitting takes about three minutes. Turning off the water option doesn't help. Also, unstuffing pop-pop again doesn't work.

Has this happened to other people?

Also has anyone noticed the similarities between pop-pop and Candy Crisis?

Great now it's screwed up on our 300 mhz G3 running os 9.1. right after I made this topic. I had to unplug the computer and now it (the computer) starts up all slow.

will these problems be eleiminated when you register?
Kinda like how captain hector goes away in the EV series?

Are there any other applications open? (For both) Also, what is the memory allocation for pop-pop? (For the computer running 9.1).

For the one running 9.1, 20MB were allocated and Explorer and iTunes were running.

For the one running 10.1, no other applications were running.

in OS X, to see whether pop-pop is really the program taking up your processor's time, go into the Terminal (/applications/utilities). type in "top" and hit the "return" key. It will give you a % of all of the CPU time being taken up by each application. When you do this the easiest way is to just have pop-pop running in a window (command-F). Be sure to look and see if another program might be taking up processor time too. When you're done, just press "Q" and quit the terminal. Hope that helps, and report back with your findings!

Try quitting Explorer and iTunes, and allocate more memory.

As for the OS X one, I'm not sure.

Another thing you might do for the OS X system, just to double check there's nothing running is command-option-escape. That'll bring up any applications that might be running stealthily like Classic, so you can quit them. Another thing to try is to run a disk repair and check program, like Techtool, Norton, or even Disk Utility. But if the problem is only happening when you run Pop-Pop, it's less likely to be a disk error.

I just found the solution to my problem, after about 30 minutes of extremely slow experimenting, I found out that if I turn it to full screen mode, I can get it back into a window and it will run fine again. as for the computer running os 9 its problem seems to have ceased altogther.
If anyone else has this problem this is what you do: switch pop-pop to full screen mode, it will run fine then, if you switch it back it will run ok but just remember to switch it to full screen before you quit, it will start up in full screen and you wont have a problem.

Ahh Candy Crisis.. There is a game that I enjoyed a lot. However, I can't think of any real similarities between the two games. There are a couple things that are kind of similar, but considering both have computer opponents and can be played against another person, there are just some things that have to be interfaced the way they are. All in all I don't see anything that could be a striking similarities, maybe just very small similarities at best..
