I was trying to work this out with Jager, but things are just a bit too awry... Is there still a place that exists that I can download it from?

no. get pov-ray instead it's better. (url="http://"http://mac.povray.org")mac.povray.org(/url)
------------------ (url="http://"http://www.aresaxis.net")Ares Axis(/url) Admin (url="http://"http://www.magleague.net/bbs2")MaGLeague(/url) Ares Admin GR/(url="http://"http://magleague.com/downloads/chat.html")MaGChat(/url): Col. El Patrick #2 on MaG Ares season 1
I am pretty shure pov-ray is not better then strata. (url="http://"http://www.strata.com")www.strata.com(/url) is the best i can give you, the site is frames so i can't get the adress of the exact page. You'll just have to find it.

free strata is not available from strata anymore. They only offer Plus for $250 and Pro for like $600. POV-Ray is superior to the free strata offering, that is unless strata 3d 3.0 base suddenly gained radiosity rendering, CSG, photon mapping, (url="http://"http://www.povray.org/documentation/view/133/#s06")etc(/url)

Then why is the Strata 3.7 demo is still on the purchase page for download?
Interesting :photon mapping? Thats relativly new technology. I've heard that they were hoping to add that in Strata v4.0. ------------------ "English needs to be fixed!!" -My dad

Strata Pro 3.7 demo is a full-featured, save-disabled demo which renders with a watermark
Hmmm... my only problem with Pov-ray is that I just do not think like that. I know that it is powerful, and that you can do alot with it, but man oh man, coding graphics is like a nightmare from my days in qBasic. I want somehting I can really manipulate, move, and see. I will try my hand at Pov-Ray, I don't want to miss out on any opportunities, but it is just not how my mind works.
I have managed to find a place to download Strata 3D-base (the old free version) with help from a little bird. So I'm good to go. Thanks guys!
with POV-Ray you will probably find it is much easier if you plan your ship out on graph paper beforehand. just a tip
POV is also very flexible - Darkk will spend a couple hours designing and several rendering, while I take several designing and a couple rendering

So you plot out your ship, three dimensionally, on paper before you do it? I mean, that's kinda crazy... All those 3-d points... dude, math was never my thing... I'll try it though, who knows...
And once you have a model, how do you actually make a sprte from it?
Once you have a model you render it, just like in any 3d app. in pov you'd have to use something like
rotate 360*y*clock
not really sure if thats the correct syntax though, heh.
Man... Well, I'll have to try it once I get it. I'm not going to be running any programs or another month or so, which is when my iBook should arrive. It'll be nice to have some power.
On the 9th i get Shaw High Speed Cable Internet, and in around 4 weeks after that, me gets an eMac, full load. And several thousand woth of software

FOOL! You lucky fool! <Shrout1 drools at thought of high speed cable>
I was considering the eMac, and I almost bought it - in fact it would be here by now if I had bought it. But I like the portabilityl of the iBook and some of its neat features, so I decided to go with it instead.
MOHAHAHAHA, because of my nice bank ballance, i just got (ordered) 2 80 GB Fire Wire Hardrives, 1 80GB USB 9man thats going to be slow..) and my eMac comes with a bukt in 80 I belive, and due to the fact that i get 2 static IP's i;ll probly be hosting my own site, with MEGS(I dont know, 4 80GIGS enough?) worth of stuff, for your downloading pleasure

Shrout1 falls to ground in the face of superior computing equipment...
You should host webpages! oasamostexianu (however you say that :D) hosts sourcecod.com - I don't know, but you might be able to set up your computer as a server. He gets 5$ a month for 500mb accounts - or 50$ a year.

Oooh, draggin it waaay back up to the top.
Well, I got Strata yesterday! Found it on an old Nov 98' Mac Addict disk. Anyway, I need to know how to control the layers in it - I get the 3-D sculpting, the rotation and the rendering, but I don't know how to do the layers - I.E. the object's placement relative to one another... wait, maybe I'm thinking a bit 2 dimensionally here... Off to go model...
Course, I'm always open for help!
