Hera Q & A

Why don't we start a Q&A; where newbies like me can ask questions about Hera.

1. OK! I make my first level, and I get an error before the briefing screen comes up! It says : Energy Blob Undefined. What's that mean?!?

2. How do you make that blue backgraound for prologues?

Chack out my website:(url="http://"http://wwwlight.aftran.com")light.aftran.com(/url) for Ferazel levels, status on my Ares plgin, and more.

  1. Put in an energy blob, and select "Is Energy Blob"

  2. There's a PICT resource in Ares Scenarios to do that. I think if you just put a corresponding PICT in your plug

--Oh yeah, the answer to question #3:
--put in Warp Flares, and select the appropriate radio buttons
--put in the "Castaway Crew Member" and select "Is Player's Body"
--
--You can ask the question just for posterity.

Er, perhaps you should read the (OK, so its not very user friendly) instruction manual...!

------------------
Oh, so it is another bug hunt then...

I know, I know....I need to read the manual. But here's a question that it won't answer: Can you use graphics from ships used in Escape Velocity in Ares?

Fill in the black with a different color, and make the Rotation Resolution 10 instead of 15.

How do you do that? I have NO idea about graphics...

To fill the background, just open up the sprite in Photoshop (or equivalent). Then, change the background color to something else that contrasts with the other colors in the image. Save.

Import the file into Hera. Type in the number of sprites that are in the image in the text boxes. Then, close the box and select the sprite. Click OK. In the "special" tab, set the rotation resolution to 10 instead of 15. Then your done.

I've done the same thing and in the game the graphics are very small. Why? It looks fine in Hera.

Do I talk too much?
DoItalktoofast?
Do I ask too many questions?
I wonder...

Another thing. Is there a way to export graphics from Hera?

No. This is to prevent people from "stealing" Nathan Lamon'ts graphics.

Hmmm...why? Not as if Ambrosia is like a really commercial company...

Ambrosia operates under the same laws as those "commercial" companies. It may produce shareware, but it is still a company and that means it protects its intellectual property.

Be glad Andrew didn't see that comment. He rather dislikes people who disregard Ambrosia's intellectual property. Remember- it is theirs, or in this case Nathan's.

Go to the attributes tab of the ship, and look at the "scale" box on the right side. Adjust that as nesecary.
