Due to the success of the "Battle for Sol" and "When the Voinians Came" at the Escape Velocity and Override forums, I thought it might be a good idea to give this forum a try. There are no general rules, which should allow you to be somewhat flexible in what you do. Just make sure not to destroy someone's character without first receiving permission from them... Sound alright? Good. Then post away!
Info about me and my fleet:
Name: Captain Skyblade | Commander of the 12th Ishiman Brigade Background: Graduated at the accademy for the military arts six years ago, has experience in warfare against the Gaitori and Cantharan aliens. Race: Ishiman Age: 25 human years Current Location: Demeter (the capital of the Ishimans, I guess? ;)).
Fleet: 6 Heavy Destroyers, one of which is the Triton Corsair, Skyblade's flagship. 10 Gunships 12 Heavy Cruisers 25 Cruisers

Skyblade and the 12th brigade were on patrol within the Demeter system. Ishiman high command had released reports of Gaitori movement along the northern border, and the 12 brigade has been ordered to patrol the space just beyond the neutral zone. All was quiet... A little too quiet, perhaps.
"Captain Limburg, you got anything on your sensors?" Skyblade asked as he glanced at his computer screen.
"Nothing yet, sir," the captain of a Heavy Destroyer replied. "Long range sensors currently have no readings, with the exception of Ishiman cargo traffic within the perimeter. If you like, I could try conducti-..."
"What's that, captain?" Skyblade said, somewhat surprised at the pause.
"Cancel previous scanner reports, sir. I'm not picking up a Gaitori battlefleet in route to the Demeter system."
"That's us," Skyblade responded. "I'm now picking them up as well."
As the hostile fleet continued to get closer to the 12th's location, Skyblade's computer screen began to churn out additional data.
"Wow, we've got supper on the way," Skyblade said across the intercom. "Sensors reports 4 carriers, 4 heavy destroyers, 10 gunships, and 20 cruisers. Get ready for a big shoot out, and radio high command for reinforcements."
As the Gaitori fleet began to close in on the 12th's location, Skyblade and his fleet began to take up defensive positions. Boy, were the Gaitori in for a surprise upon exiting warp speed...

I'm not going to continue my post until you guys come along and post yourself. Pick a side and have some fun...
(What time period are you starting in? I like the time a couple years after the liberation of earth. If thats not what you had in mind I might have to edit this post)
My character: Captain Brookeview Captain of the UNS Indigo Flame a newly built human carrier. It has a twin-mageneto pulse launcher the standard laser turret and 20 intercepter. This is the Indigo Flame's first time out of stardock.
"Number one take us out. Set a course for the firing range in the Proxima Centauri System." Said brookeview and then turned and sat in his command chair.
The Indigo Flame's first officer nodded and called out "Helm manuvering speed until clear of spacedock then all ahead one third. Set course for Earth jumpgate number 3 and jump when ready, destination Proxima jumpgate number 2."
The massive human carrier slowly slid out of the surrounding spacedock and headed toward a barely visible jumpgate.

I know nothing about marathon or whatever the RPG is about. I'v been waiting for a new one about Ares to start... and now it has.
Mike, the leader of a secret band of rebels during the Cantharan occupation of earth, is at the captian's chair of an Auriance battlecruiser. Mike leads the fleet in to defend the Ishman ships as they await the emergence of the Gatori.
Viewscreen crackles on "What are you-" "Captian, I asure you, I mean no harm to you or your ships. If I were, we would not be having this conversation as you would be floating in space. I recieved your distress signal and have a fleet of Auriance ships on their way to protect your fleet." "What the heck is the Auriance?!" "No time I'll explain later. Now, let's destroy those Gatori, shall we." "Fire at will Captian."
The Gatori ships emerge from hyperspace with weapons blazing. Mike's ship immediately destroys 2 cruisers and a destroyer. The Gatori fleet is being decimated by the Ishman and Auriance fleet when all of the sudden....
(Tell me if I'm going to far with this or if making my own government shouldn't be done. I will fix upon request.)

As for time period, I have no idea. I'm not too familiar with the Ares time periods, so simply post what seems logical.
The Ishiman and Cantharan rebels are continuing their defense against the Gaitori when a larger fleet was picked up on radar. An additional Gaitori fleet was on its way to the Demeter system, only this time the fleet was six times bigger. The first wave had simply been a skirmish along the front line...
"Skyblade to fleet, I've got massive enemy reinforcements on long range scanners. They should be in our current location within the next four minutes. Your orders are to continue the current battle until the order to withdraw is given."
The Triton Corsair sped around one of the Gaitori carriers as it attempted to slash at it with guided missiles. Pellet rounds continued to slap Ishiman vessels with minor results. The Ishiman and their allies responded with laser fire, proton rounds, and rockets.
Groups of Ishiman Heavy Destroyers routed Gaitori Carriers from behind and decimated them with their nasty firepower. As the cruisers continued to engage the Gaitori counterparts, the Ishiman gunships made the hostile gunships pay for their lack of shielding. However, time was running out.
After Skyblade gave the word, the 12th brigade began to fall back. The Heavy Destroyers protected the withdraw with long range missiles, and continued to inflict heavy losses. As the Ishiman and rebels exited the Demeter system, the Gaitori reinforcements (or the actual attack force) entered.
Computer data of the Battle at Demeter: Gaitori Losses: 3 Carriers, 4 Heavy Destroyers, 7 Gunships, and 16 Cruisers Ishiman Losses: 1 Gunship, 2 Heavy Cruisers, 5 Cruisers
"Now, who are you?" Asked the captain of the Triton Corsair. "I am Fleet Commander Mike of the Auriance Defiance Operative (ADO). We are a group of rebels from earth that have discovered this advanced technology and have used it to destroy many Cantharan outposts and fleets. As you can tell, our firepower was well overwhelming to those Gatori. I would be happy to donate some of our Multi-Phasic torpedoes and Pulse Turrets to the Ishman Cooperative." "And what would you ask in return, Commander?" "Only friendship and peace between our two governments." "Consider us allies."
Mike follows the Ishman fleet back to Ishma to sign a treaty between their two governments and to start peace initiatives. After installing the new weapons onto the Ishman ships, Mike returns to his Battlecruiser and, after bidding farewell to his new allies, his fleet blasts off to their base of operations on Lunas Alpha.

Ah, try looking at the topics in the Officer's club... and when you come to 'Chapter 3: The Founder's Bane' that's it. You think you can just waltz in here with an RPG? Well, you can. As Skyblade ordered the rebel weapon designs back to Ishma for inspection by the government, orders were beginning to be received by Ishiman fleets througout the sector. The Gaitori were obviously conducting a full-scale invasion of the northern Ishiman sector.
The 12th brigade was rather small to put up with large Gaitori fleets, therefore, they were ordered to join the 17th Ishiman Carrier fleet. The Carrier fleet was mobilizing in the Pollux system, just south of Demeter. It would likely be the next Gaitori target.
Once the 12th brigade entered the Pollux system, the 17th Carrier fleet was prepared for the arrival of the invaders. The Carrier fleet was far larger than the 12th brigade, and would offer stiff resistance to the Gaitori. It was only a matter of time...

After total destroying several target drones of various sizes at the firing range Brookeview went off to his quarters for some sleep. About ten minutes later his first officer's voice came over the intercom.
"Sir we have received a gold channel message from Earth. It's for your eyes only sir."
"All right... put it through down here." Came the sleepy reply.
About fifteen minutes later in the briefing room Brookeview outlined their new mission.
"We are to travel to the Ser system to meet up and lead a battle group forming there. From there our destination is the northern Ishiman system of Pollux. Apparently the Gaitori have launched an all out offensive against the Ishiman. And you know where ever the Gaitori attack the Cantharan and their allies can't be far behind."

Sitting in his seat Sgt.Jager ponders his disition to join earth forces. But like all decisions you cant realy turn your back on them after you decide.
The young cadet sitting in ops. turns to sgt.jager and sayes, "sir there is a incoming destroyer of unknows oragens and race." Sgt.Jager looks up at the screen and orders the fleet to be put on high allert."on screen cadet. lets have a look at these people."
Looming out in the didtance of about 30,000 KM a large red colored destroyer of a unknow race jumps out of hyperspace.
All of the ships in the fleet are on high alert. Renforcements have been called from various outposts through earth space. Earth can only hope that this alien rae is not hostel towards the human race

Beep Beep Beep. Sgt.Jager jumped. it was the nodification for a hail. Sgt.Jager sayes to the cadet at ops, "put it through to the main screen." The screen flickers and then the picture of rear admoral vincent carlo appears on screen. "Greeating from the Earth prototype heavey cruser. Well now Sgt.Jager sorry to come in un analsed but we have our orders I'm sure you can understand that. Anyways we juct came back from a 25 light-year jump and would like to dock now so please order your ships out of the way," he sayed.Sgt.Jager Sayed with some carksasum," yes sir."
"Ops order fighter squadren 21 to move out of the admorals way. Send the U.N.S. Gattory to the jump gate and sent the U.N.S. Earthaminer to Earth dry dock for repairs. send out a comunacation to all earth vessels of our siuation ant tell them to stand down for now," Sgt.Jager orders.
30 mins Later the ops cadet sayes," Sir there is a comunacation from command for you." Sgt.jager stands up and sayes," thank you cadet I will take it in my ready room. That will be all."
Sgt.Jager sits down infront of his personel computer and presses the receve buton. The screen flickers to life and the face of rear admoral vincent carlo on the screen."well hello Sargent Jager. I have some news for you the Gaitori are conducting a full-scale invasion of the northern Ishiman sector. You have been ordered to move in to Ishiman controled sectors to help constructed a defence web. your fleet will be getting 3 heavey destroyers and a fed transports. That will be all Sargent.Earth command out."
With that Sargent jager got up and went to the bridge of his cruser.as he walked on to the bridge he say the new heavey destroyers and transports moving into position."ops," he said,"order the fleet to rendivue at the jump gate."As Sgt.Jager sat down his personal communicator beeped."hello sir its Cpl.Patterson from the accademy. I have a new ship and I was wondering if i could join you for this mission. To give my crue some shake down time." Skyblade and the crew of his Heavy Destroyer were eating a much-need meal when the klaxon began to sound. The crew left the table and raced for their assigned battlestations.
"What have we got?" Skyblade questioned his first officer as he climbed into his captain's chair.
"Just as we expected sir," came the reply. "The Gaitori fleet which entered the Demeter system shortly after we departed is on its way to Pollux. Numbers are massive."
"That doesn't surprise me," Skyblade responded. "Inform the 17th Carrier division that we await their orders."
As the Admiral of the 17th carrier division began to give orders and positions, the Gaitori fleet exited hyperspace a moderate distance away. Both sides began to throw fighters out of the carriers, and pulsers as well as missiles flew.
"Alright guys, hold your ground. Lets not give Pollux to the Gaitori so easilly," the Admiral addressed the Ishiman fleet.

"You hered the man lets not let them take this system.Ops order the transports to start laying the defence drowns. around the planet. Give orders to the heavey destroyers to start laying cover fire for the Ishiman fleet. Send in the 21th fighter squadron for a close range attack on the Gaitori fleet. Bring the 30th fighter squadron in behind the Gaitori fleet and bring the rest of the fleet into the Ishiman fleet." the sargent sayed
god: I wouldn't mind you assisting the Ishiman, but keep in mind that Ishiman space would take you a few weeks, maybe even a few months to reach. You won't be able to arrive in time for the current battle. Only the rebels and Ishiman fleets can provide reinforcements at the moment.
As the Gaitori juggernaught plowed forward, Ishiman Heavy Destroyers (30 strong) created a defense line ahead of the friendly fleet. Just before the leading cruisers of the Gaitori fleet reached pellet range, the Heavy Destroyers breathed fire.
The Triton Corsair picked off the thinly-armored cruisers of the Gaitori fleet with ease. As soon as the cruisers would begin firing their pellet cannons, pulsers, missiles, and beam fire would tear them to shreds. The firepower made such impressive impact that many of the cruisers were forced back and ended up smashing into others. As the heavy losses continued to mount, the cruiser line began to disperse. Moments later, the majority of the remaining cruisers had repulsed to the back of the oncoming fleet.
"I just got six kills, how about you, captain?" Skyblade's wingman questioned.
"Seven. But don't get comfortable yet," Skyblade replied as he watched in horror at the coming sight.
Precisely 100 enemy gunships came toward the Heavy Destroyers. Just as the Ishiman began to fire, pulsers were everywhere. As the Triton Corsair finished smashing two gunships, the ship was rocked by two large explosians. A third explosian brought the shields to medium. The gunships were certainly easy meat, but they were proving their firepower.
The gunships came on. About five Ishiman Heavy Destroyers were blown apart and enemy vessels emerged through the holes in the defense line. As the Heavy Destroyers began to fall back, the entire fleets of both sides went into a head long engagement.
Fighters blasted at other fighters, enemy cruisers smashed Ishiman fighters, Gaitori gunships were blown apart by Ishiman counterparts... The list goes on.
The Triton Corsair and three other Heavy Destroyers had withdrawn from the thick of the battle in order to allow the shields to recharge. Just as Skyblade watched a pair of friendly carriers route and destroy a Gaitori carrier, he and his trio of Heavy Destroyers headed for the rear of the Gaitori fleet. Party time...
The Heavy Destroyers blasted at the large numbers of Gaitori Fighters. The tiny vessels were extremely easy to destroy, only taking a pulse blast at most. Dozens of enemy fighters turned and attacked the Heavy Destroyers, but none were able to fire once before the long range missiles and pulsers cut through their thin shields.
"Engage the carriers," Skyblade ordered.
Ishiman vessels began to filter through the pellet fire and pound the Gaitori Carriers. Skyblade's ship caught one from behind, destroying it with the help of a friendly Carrier. The battle was looking good for the Ishiman...
Some of the Gaitori ships were beginning to retreat in panic, others warping away from the battle all together. The Ishiman were taking their own losses as well, however (and heavy ones). A Carrier had been lost, and another heavilly damaged.
The Gaitori began to pull back, firing off pellets at the triumphant defenders. The Ishiman pounded the Carriers as they attempted to warp away to Demeter, and the Cruisers which attempted to secure the retreat were simply cut away. The Ishimans had avenged their loss at Demeter.

Message Buoy: Pollux successfully held by Ishiman forces. Invading Gaitori have been repulsed to Demeter.
Just before the Gaitori fleet reached the jumpgate it opened berore them and the battle group lead by the Indigo Flame emerged before them. The 60 quicker ships surged ahead and began to pound the Gaitori ships frwhile the five carriers began to launch their intercepters which in turn began firing off their concussive missiles Gaitori fleet.

Sgt.Jager Gives the order to jump to hyperspace to the Demeter system where a fight between the Gaitori and Ishiman has just finished.
With the new engions that the fleet has it will take aprokimitly 15 hours to reach the Demeter system.When the fleet arives they will set up the defence systems around the planet and await orders from either the Ishiman high command or the human high command.
"Ops. Time to Demeter system?" Sgt.Jager Asked."14 hours and 30 mins sir," the cadet answered."Good then I think I will go eat something. If anything happens just send me a message. After we enter Ishiman space watch for any incoming intruters." sargent jager sayed,"you have your orders."
Sgt.Jager Left the bridge and went to the cafateria where he noted that they where serving mistery meat.(yum not) Sgt.Jager sat down at a table and begane to eat his food.
Later that day he went back to his quaters only to find them a compleate mess like someone was looking for something. He went over to the wall and pressed the com. "Sgt.Jager to serity," he sayed."secuarty here sir what is the problem sir?" the reply came.'some one has been in my quaters and they have messed it all up. Send up the janotor and 2 secerity gards please." Sgt.Jager sayed with a frown."coming sir," was the reply.
Later Sgt.Jager went to bead with a sence that something was rong on his ship

brookeview: Both Demeter and Pollux are separate planets / systems. Demeter is currently in Gaitori control, while Pollux is still on Ishiman hands.
