Tal'tair of the Commanding Rank sifted through his reports slowly. Detail by detail, line by line, as he was accustomed to doing. Only through the meaningful repetition of such dull tasks let his mind wonder from this forsaken world: Lh'owon.
It had been 16 years in full, since he had first been appointed here. His old superior, a drab dark Pfhor called Men'in had recently died. May the gods preserve him. When it came down to it, he just hadn't moved fast enough.
A large part of his career had constituted filing reports, trying to worm his way in and out of the massive Pfhor beuracracy which dominated the Empire. Boring as it was, he had come to like it. Now, when exciting times threatened, he still sifted through his reports and wrote them in triplicate.
He couldn't put it off any longer. Reaching down under his desk, he pressed the communications switch to his assistant, Willful Rank T'Thcia.
T'Thcia entered with minimum ceremony, but at seeing Ta'ltair kneeled and pressed his face to the floor. Ta'ltair motioned him up.
'Has Men'in been accorded the ceremony due to one of the Commanding Rank?'
'Yes.' If T'Thcia made eye contact with Ta'ltair with more than 1 eye, it was a movement on his territory, akin to the primordial instinct it might arouse in Ta'ltair as a threatening gesture. It was almost comical, since they were but 2 feet apart.
'The entire station on Lh'owon will remain in mourning for 2 cycles. Plans to construct a statue in his honour are in motion with the Engineer 1st class K'kra. The new byway is also to be called the Men'in Byway in honour of our deceased Commander.'
'Yes, master.'
'Forward this to the Engineers.'
'Yes, oh master.'
'You may leave.'
Again, T'Thcia knelt upon the ground and kissed it. He backed out of the room, his face remaining constantly in the direction of Ta'ltair, while his eyes remained on the floor.
When he was sure T'Thcia was gone, he again pressed a button on his desk, different colour.
'This is Ta'ltair, I am coming to the detention sector.'
'Acknowledged.'
Ta'ltair walked down the twisted ramps above the sewage facility, above the murky green river where the f'lickta lurked. Even though the area was officially pacified, fighting still continued at sporadic intervals. Eventually he came to the teleporter. The cyborg had proven tough, but every sentient creature will break eventually under his enforcers.
Hmmm forgive me for my old-fashioned ways, but if you're doing a Marathon-based RPG, shouldn't you be doing it on a Marathon-related board? Like, say, the (url="http://"http://pub61.ezboard.com/bmarathoninvasion")M:Inv boards(/url)?
------------------ What others can travel so far into so many universes yet remain so deeply rooted in their own? (url="http://"http://marathon.invasion.tripod.com")M:Inv(/url) and the (url="http://"http://pub61.ezboard.com/bmarathoninvasion")M:Inv Webboards(/url)
I can't forgive you for messing up my RPG with a comment like that!!! Oh cruel world...
Can someone give me a link to a revised version of the Marathon Saga? I don't know what the heck you're talking about, but I'd like to join in this RPG.
------------------ This Vid is a bit like my beast; extremely long, and best enjoyed with a mouthful of nuts. -Ali G.
do this on the m:inv boards  <--- angry glare
------------------ just take my post, and imagine everything is speeled right.
Sheesh, it's only one thread. God forbid that ONE thread dirty up the board. Oh, and we can't have any interesting material.
Variety is good, there's no reason to ditch this. If you're going to be a stick-in-the-mud "ares only" tyrant, than nothing interesting will ever happen. The old RPG has more or less been played out, and that Universe more or less determined its fate.
Live and let live. Or in this case, post and let post.
------------------ Madness takes it's toll; Please have exact change.
Oops, this is embarrassing...
I'm not being adamant for this being on the Ares Boards, I'm being adamant because it's not on the M:Inv boards. (Board Traffic)
Yeah well, I don't care if you don't know the storyline. Who ever started an RPG with a storyline? What's that? Everyone. Ok never mind. Look at it this way: even if you don't know what the storyline is, I'm not going to be angry with you if you make wildly inaccurate posts.
Pallas, yeah I should have posted it there, but how many people are signed up at the moment?
12, I believe. Which is precisely why I want it there; with an RPG that shows signs of decency, more people would likely sign up.

Heck, if we want traffic we could just release a preview, and have a Sarg do an anouncement about it.
Or mention it to Hamish Sinclair. THAT would generate traffic, allright.

I have yet to look at the M:Inv boards. I think I'll mosy on over there and see what's going.
An RPG would probably increase traffic. So would offering cash prizes. But those are two totally unrelated things.
