You know you have up to 99 permflags right? You might even be able to use 999, I don't know.
Posted by Aschaaf_86: Also, nobody ever explained "conversation-inclusive-flags
A "conversation inclusive flag" is just a long name for Player Flag. Perm Flag is techincally short for Perminent Player Flag. A Perm Flag will stay with a player wherever he (she?) goes. A flag that is simply a Player Flag will not be taken out of that conversation. To scan and set simply use 4 instead of 5. However the detraction of these are that A) They are either set or not, no spefic value Cannot be set by a Perm Flag Set Spot. All in all I think Perm Flags are better because they can be set speficially, by a spot and you have unlimited anyway. For instance in my set of levels, Perm Flag #9 does elevent different things depending on its status. I'd tell you what but I'm paranoid you'd steal my ideas. Cannot share until release, cannot share until release, cannot share until release... A final note, Player Flags are more glitchy than Perm Flags so just stick to the course

hehe. I felt competetive too. That's why I worked so hard to be the first one with a level. (See the date of the topic “Andrew's World”) After joining the One Big World project, I don't really care as much, and I don't work as hard. That's the problem with Communism... On the other hand, I have more time to work on other things.
Maybe you should join.

You felt competitive? I was straining myself to release Basic Nothingness before Ben came to his senses and released MASCOT.
So, to semi-humbly correct you: technically, my level was the first to be released. (url="http://"http://www.AmbrosiaSW.com/webboard/Forum7/HTML/000421.html")http://www.AmbrosiaS...TML/000421.html(/url)

I meant after MASCOT was released.

This thread ought to be dug up from down there... Also another thing to add!
Magic Carpets info(0): tint (use same system as for scenery tinting, which oddly isn't in this guide.)

I'M BACK. BUT NOT FOR LONG...
Sorry for the lack of an update, folks! My life has been crazy over the past three months; notably moving 1000 miles and settling in to a new life in the midwest. I simply haven't had time to update the Guide, and I don't foresee having much time in the foreseeable future.
I would encourage anyone who is capable of information management to collect the text from the first guide and add to it any new nuggets of information and wisdom, as I hold no special rights over the guide, nor any particular knowledge or skill superior to yours.
I would nominate young Andrew for the task as he clearly has his head on straight and could probably pull it off with vigor and enthusiasm.
Thanks!

Young?? I'm 14! That's old in this era. Hmm, I don't waste as much time as I used to on Ferazel stuff (Why help the competition when you could be working on your own stuff?), but I could manage this.
I'll do some work on it now.
A poll: What should I call the info fields? info(n)? info field(n)? (n)?
I'm adding a FAQ, and a Tips and Tricks section. Any ideas for them?
And would spamguy mind if I merged the official FAQ with MRG?

Let's move this thread up so the newbies to MASCOT will see it more clearly, and stop asking dumb questions that have already been awnsered.
In my experience...newbies will ask newbie questions and there isn nothing you can do to stop it. There is a FAQ on Ferazel Hacking, there is this reference guide.

It is annoying when questions are asked that are in the FAQ's...granted. But this is a "help" board so you're going to have to put up with questions being asked by people who aren't as experienced as you are. They need the freedom to ask them. If you don't want to answer..don't.

And of it a'int, it probably will be in the next edition.
TILES - WORLD WIDTH The white tile problem is caused on the right side of levels that are too wide. There is a maximum width for all levels -- I don’t remember the number, but Hangnabit is the widest that a level is allowed to be. If you want to create apparently “wider” levels, you’ll need to divide it up vertically and place passages at the end of each row to go down to the next one. (See Fire in the Hole for an example of this.) There is a similar limitation on the vertical height of levels, but people don’t usually run into that one.”
Wasn't Fire in the Hole the one where the fire was at the top and you were racing down? You just zigzagged down and down. Now, If you can't stand the heat had about 3 rows and at the end were tunnels tranporting you down each time. Is this what you meant? Correct me if I'm wrong.
Is there a way to make doors open when permflags are set or when a button is pushed? There was a way to make a trap on the OBW topic involving doors and buttons.

No.
You would have to use rock barriers instead of doors.
