Screen Resolutions

Post to the poll, and talk about resolutions if you really need to.

This is just a quick poll for everybody on the boards. I'm hoping to get an idea of people's maximum screen resolution, as development for my TC is making me think about how certain graphics will look if everybody is using 640 x 480. I'm really praying not everybody's computer is so limited, but either way, I'm stuck at a point until I know what the general range of resolution is that I'm developing for. I especially want to use a modified status bar that makes use of the normally negated space below the cargo/credit box, but I can't if it's going to clip off everyone's screen. I'm developing in 1440 x 900, but I need to take into account smaller screen sizes.

Post to the poll your maximum resolution (approximate range)!

I believe EV Nova was designed for 1024x768, so you certainly don't need to plan for anything smaller than that. My 15.4" laptop does 1440x900, and the 28" monitor on my desk is 1920x1200.

Also, while this is probably overkill and beyond the effort-level of the average user, you could make the interfaces for 1024x768, and them make a separate version for some larger screen size, which you distribute as a plug-in (perhaps bundled with the main download) so users who want the bigger graphics can use them. See what I did with Full-Screen Map.

My MacBook is 1280x800 and my Mac Pro is 3360x1050 (two 20" monitors).

1280x800 here.

Mine's the smallest screen? You all stink! 😛

I remember when Nova first came out, I bought a used power mac solely to play it. The thing had an 800 x 600 screen, and the opening story images were cut off. The game itself runs fine, though.
