How to take over the world

F, 1, Y, D, return

ok a couple of things. 1 thats just overkill like come on! 2 how did you get so many escorts. 3 Why? just what is the point of that really.

I have a stock 1.10 pilot who could beat that one.

Also, while it excels at taking over a single planet, trying to take over all of Sol at once fails thanks to the Raven's A.I.

Though I am curious how you captured all of those. At first, I thought they were mission related, but then I looked at the pilot log.

That's awesome. I am impressed. I just made one with Krypt Pods and Wraith Adults and Strikers. Flying a Cargo Pod. It's fun.

 How did that work? Is this some new way to edit pilot files?

Too bad its not windows 🙂 Also, it must be pretty amazing so everyone is amazed by it. In fact, I havent ever seen like this before. People being this amazed and asking questions like "Is this some new way to edit pilot files?" These silly questions (silly. lol) mean they didnt understand what happened. And if Qaanol is impressed then... !!! 🙂 (maybe a  for good measure? Probably not. LOL)

I am confused by this: I just made one with Krypt Pods and Wraith Adults and Strikers. Flying a Cargo Pod. Did Qaanol create a pilot? How did he do that? You know, Strikers? And all the stuff he mentioned? What does he mean with a Cargo Pod? Does he mean a Cargo Drone? Did he, then, make a plug (I love Ambrosia jargon...) to fly it? Lots of questions! But I am confused. So I need to ask as much. 😛

I didnt get to download it (bleh), because its not Windows. Again. Bleeh.

I wonder what could possibly be better than this fabled pilot? But it seems its a Raven, and I wonder why he talks about AI. Talking about limitations seems a bit extreme, a bit crazy, because you usually dont complain about limitations when youre flying a Raven. Or actually, might it be he has a Raven escort? Because you usually have 6 of them, and then you are invincibile (well, as good as with Nil'Kimas Ravens. And one planet at time, obviously). So, 6 ravens are simply invincibile and never die. Period. At least I think so- because its a impressive sight. I have never had them, so I imagine them as invincible. Has anybody ever had a Raven escort die on him?

Though I am curious how you captured all of those

Okay, so its escorts. I wonder what kind of escorts it is since everybody is saying how overpowered it is (they are amazed). I cant, since I am on Windows...

The rest of dooms post is just humorous: how did you get so many escorts. 3 Why? just what is the point of that really.

I mean 3. There is no point, I think! 🙂 😛

Ooh! Ooh! Make a Windows pilot! I want to see what this is! Also, according to the PC Plugin Conversion tutorial your file is corrupted! If you see Mac OS X folders, it means it corrupt... It says: If the file was not compressed correctly, the following files will result. The only course of action is to either contact the plugin creator and ask them to re-compress the file(...) So Guy, can you recompress it since I couldnt get it?

Oh, and I love making long posts... Its fun. When I like it (sometimes long posts get tedious). I wanted to fill in all that I had to say.. and it was apparently a lot... I have been writing this over the hours... That is, a bit one hour and more the next... loong time.

So, a final tease to Guy: did you get it recompressed?

-Cade

Darn. I havent been writing in months (here). I dont remember when I wrote last time...

Not corrupt, just compressed in a fashion that is usually harder to extract and convert on a PC. And does the Windows-based plug-in convertor even accept pilot files in the first place?

It's not a plug-in Cade, it's a pilot. Specifically, it's a pilot flying a stock Shuttle with a combat rating of deadly and about 12 or so captured Nilk Raven escorts. Not mission escorts, captured. Beyond the limit of 6. Something that's technically impossible due to engine limitations, but apparently isn't. And it fails taking over Earth, Mars, and Europa all at the same time because the Ravens, once they're out of Multi-torps, won't go and camp over all three planets, just one... or two if I'm lucky. Hence fighters from the free planet will happily chase down the Shuttle it shove a bunch of IR Missiles into it.

As for killing it, just think for a moment of how I could, without using plugs, effortlessly slip by the Ravens and kill the Shuttle.

Oh, and yes, Raven escorts can die, especially against defense fleets. The Qaanol Maneuver works because the player is drawing fire from the enemy ships so the Raven can do their jobs without getting hit.

Edit: Due to the fact that a stray Hellhound can one-shot the Shuttle, and since exploding ships can shoot while exploding (not even taking into consideration blast damage here), I offer these revised directions for taking over planets with this pilot: V, Up, F, 1, Y, D, Return. Or maybe V, Up, 1, Y, D, Return, F if you prefer that way.

I use different key commands than stock Nova, so I really don't know how to operate this.

However, while I have no idea how this worked (I haven't looked at the pilot or anything), if I can figure it out, I think (depending on how it works) that I can put it to good use myself...

Mission escorts don't affect the max escort limit until you run into the 64-ships-in-system limit.

But they aren't mission escorts. They are captured.

They're not mission escorts though, if the pilot log I generated it to be believed (and I don't see why it wouldn't). It labels them all as captured.

Edit: Beaten due to a slow campus connection...

What is the behavior of fighter escorts when you land and change ships with them deployed? Do they disappear or do they remain as "captured escorts?"

I'm pretty sure that's been done before, but I tried it ... and interestingly enough, Hxxx fails to remove the bay or deployed fighter. Not what this appears to be, though.

What happens if you have escorts disabled before capturing another one? I don't think the escort will register towards the maximum escort limit, but I'm not sure.

I'm certain that, even if all six of your escorts were disabled, the capture ship button would still be grayed out, since they are still your escorts and can be boarded to be repaired.

I give up; why did you break Matt Burch's game, Guy?

For fun 🙂
Some notes:
- I cannot convert the pilot file to windows format.
- There are 40 Ravens (JTH can't count :p). These are actually Frandall's variant which are slightly faster/more manoeuvrable and have inertia.
- I was left with about 14 very badly damaged Ravens after wiping out Earth's defence fleet. My previous attempt with only 32 Ravens was unsuccessful.
- Yes, you do need to move a little away from Earth before demanding tribute.

How????
How did you get 40 captured escorts?

Wow!

Correction, the pilot log can't count. I couldn't convince the things to spread out enough in-game to make counting feasible. Though it makes me feel better about my computer knowing the log was wrong, as this has been the first and only instance where Nova has lagged on it.

Edit: Or it may be that a bunch of them died when I looked at the log...
