I'm not quite sure how this works. Bridge was completed, crossed the bridge and ran into the guy who gives me the scroll. I then walk to Berglum, meet up with Monk, Friar, whatever. I did find a new area that I believe is Upper Berglum. Found the Oak Trees and a message came up showing a note attached to the tree. I can't seem to pick it up or do anything with it and didn't find anything else. So, I'm kind of lost on what I should be doing. Harold said walk to Berglum and "smell the roses". Well, I walked all the way back to Fantrima and didn't see anything resembling a rose. Tried to talk with Harold again, but has no info. Am I doing something backwards?

I'm adding an update on this, actually I did find the guy with the scrap of paper, the Doc and the Island. I went back to Fantrima to see if Harold had anything to say, but he doesn't, so I'm really not sure where I go from here, as I don't have any other leads. Hunted around by the bridge (going one square up, one square down and one over) Nada....
When in doubt, the best thing to do first is check that scroll which was given to you at the bridge. Open your inventory and it should be somewhere near the bottom of the list. To read the scroll either double click it or select "use" from under your inventory list.
What you should see there is something like "Ulmert said some trolls were going to meet at the river portals. Perhaps you should go there to find more information." Sorry I don't remember it word for word, and don't want to open a game to find it.
Now, if you can't find the "river portals" that's another matter. I'll wait on that since you seem to be doing okay.
p.s. Instead of posting twice, you can click on the little "edit" button above your post and change or add to what you have written.

Ok, I've tried speaking to everyone in Gwyden, Fantrima. I've wandered here and there and everywhere. Tried to find info. at the Learning Tree. I have both parchments. I don't know if I should go back to Upper Berglum again or not. I'm at a total loss on "River Portals"?

If you are far enough along in the game to have sought out the "Order of Seasons," the Elf, Orobas, would have activiated the portals for you. If you're not there yet, no problem. Go one square north of the Learning Tree and then one square west. The portal will not be active but should be obvious.
You might want to check the link in my signature for the sectional Garendall map. Look at map #4, square 48. It is nice to know where you are going even if it is a bit of a cheat. You would have found it eventually by just playing the game. This plugin really spans the whole game so don't forget to do the PoG quests as they come along.

Oh, Ok, yes, I've already been to the elf and so it's Those Portals! Terrific! Thanks so much. I was running around trying to find actual river portals where the rivers either flow into or out of . I've been doing the other quests, but something really odd has happened. I had lumberjacks sent to help out with the barricades, but if I go back down to talk to the knight, he keeps saying I have to finish helping build the barricades?? And if I try to tell the guard at Berglum, he throws me out?? Now the later, I'm probably just overlooking something, as it's been a while since I've played this. But I don't recall the Knight wanting me to help build the barracade?
Of course he throws you out. Who are you to him, a nobody? You're going to need a little name-dropping for him to believe you. Has Septemris given you a quest to rescue his General Decimus? When Gen. D. asks your help, you'll have a little leverage with the comanders at Berglum and Dernath. The help with the barricades will sort itself out as you gather the forces together. Keep talking to the key people and you'll get the job done.

No he didn't, but I'm thinking that's a Plug In issue, so I guess I should go rescue Decimus anyway. I did get the other two parchments and am looking around for the goblin that Harold saw. Pretty cool.. Update: I have gone back and saved Decimus, gotten the other tooth for Orobus, etc. But looking for that Troll is odd. I say odd, because one thing I've found in this game is that from time to time, if someone says "South/East", it's actually "North/West", etc. Harold said the troll went "East", could that mean "West"? I did find a cave over by the eastern rocks outside of Fantrima, but he wasn't in there. There is a chest, which I'm assuming I need to find a key. But anyway, Does East mean West??

Nope. "East is east, and west is west, and the wrong one you have chose." (hint) But, you might want to go a little bit west to see how Sterling is making out in the fishing contest with his lucky hat. (/hint)

If Sterling is the guy holding his head and talking to himself outside the Goblin Cave, he doesn't speak. One of the others said they had a goblin steal his hat. Went back into the Goblin Cave, bunch of goblins but no news. My brain must be going to the dogs. I'm brain dead.
Okay, I know where you are now. I think you need to stroll through the center of town.

Thank you so much! Got it!!
