More fun than Bureau cells!
After I finish my work on Disable only escorts, I'm going to make a plug-in that, as it's name would suggest, allows you to use post-storyline weapons and ships to blow more stuff up, more often. All in all, this plug-in will:
Make ALL Governments Xenophobic. Make ALL ships either Warship or interceptor type AI so that all ships will attack you. Make Reinforcement fleets larger, and using high end variants of ships. Take away the Kill/disable/attack penalty of every government, and set the planet's legal whatchmacallit really low so you can always land anywhere after blowing things up to take a rest or reload. Make major planets/stations have high tech levels so you can get new weapons without having to go very far. And, with any luck, I might be able to up the defense fleet's overall difficulty. I'm thinking that I might not do this, though.
I might end up releasing this plug in three different difficulties: one is for ayour average player, only using the ideas above. Hard mode plug-in will up the stats of high-end variants, making reinforcement fleets that much harder And finally, a Legendary mode, where new variants appear that are so powerful, only the best would be able to handle them. As in, if you captured Iuso's Raven and used all 80 multi-torps on these variants, they'd still have plenty of shields left.
The basic point of this plug-in is to allow you to have more chances to blow the crap out of everything. No real use, but it sounds fun enough.
Seems simple enough, and interesting enough to be entertaining. Go for it.
Alright, I've been mostly working up ideas for Legendary Mode ships, and here are my most recent ideas:
Fed Carriers with more shields than a regular Nil'Kimas Raven and more armor than a Heeran Va'Ytreck Carrier. Instead of Heavy Blaster Turrets, these Carriers will carry Enormous Blaster Turrets, the ones that shoot out of Fed Stations.
Auroran Carriers that carry 400 mm turreted Railguns. 6 of them. And nothing but Frunch'ek class Phoenixes.
Ravens, with inertia, modified to have their CPLs shoot from the center of the ship instead of way out in front of them, and they'll have TBRL's on them for fun.
Of course, you won't have access to buy these ships, but boy oh boy, have fun fighting them once this plug is finished.
If you need an idea of making defense fleets harder, you can look at my Super Defense Fleets plug.
You could also just incorporate the Balance plugin to make things harder.
I love the idea. A lot. However, ships with ridiculously strong shields and armor sounds bad because battles would last too long. Powerful ships with lots and lots of weapons is great, same with upped defenses, but if the ship is too tough when it comes to shields and armor, it just make battles really long and boring.
Or am I misinterpreting?
Too long? Crimp, there's no such thing as a battle that is too long, not in Legendary Mode, anyway. Yes, the battles will be long, but you will actually have a feeling of satisfaction when you beat your opponent. If you're just looking to fight AI ships with slightly jacked-up shields/armor and more weapons, you'll want the hard mode version of this plug-in, not the Legendary Mode.
How long? Five minutes? Ten minutes? That's fine, but if the battle takes much longer than that, it's too long. So how long will a battle with a legendary ship take?
This kinda sounds like my plugin. I really should redo it so PC users can easily convert it.
Heh, I have a "add shields and armor" plug too. It makes the shields and armor proportional to mass. Aur carriers have 14,000 armor, Enterprises have been barely touched, etc.
10 minutes? Heck, even 5 minutes would be far too long in my standards. Then again, I'm using 2x speed. Long battles tend to be tedious battles, with lots of running away and shooting railguns from a safe distance — short battles which take the spirit out of you and leave your ship with 13% armor left at the end is where it all is. Needless to say, they usually involve T-head lances and/or other close-range weapons such as ion cannons.
Well, you do what you want Iced_Plasma, I'll just download them all and see which one I like best. I'll probably make modifications to them as I see fit (like I do with almost all plugs I download), so in the end I'll be happy anyway, whatever works for you.
