Would anyone be interested...

...in a plugin that adds a shop and inn to the town of Dernath? Dernath is currently devoid of any shop or inn, and this has gotten quite annoying, so a wrote a plugin to fix this. The shop simply uses the Shop_Dernath location already existing in the game, but that location was never exposed. The shop pays double the price for your items, and the inn costs 15 g.

I now want to release the plugin, but I wanted to know if anyone would be interested in something like this before I just go ahead and upload it.
Remeber-this is NOT a cheat plugin. If you think there is anything wrong (or too easy) with the way I have set it up, tell me and I'll change it.

Sounds both useful and interesting. I would probably use it.

A plug like that would give Dernath something useful other than donating guards. Sounds like a nice idea.

Sounds good to me. If you could make it active after the Cyclops quest, then Dernath would be a developing town and would need low inn price and high pay for items to attract visitors. In fact, this could turn into a good basis for more expansion plugs as Dernath grows. I like your idea and I think it fits right in with the game.

I'm afraid that unless Beenox (in our dreams) or Ambrosia (maybe) can offer to tell me the global which is changed after clearing the Cyclops, that would be impossible. But I have to go through it one more time and write the read-me.
And yes, the inn does restore magic points.

You might be able to have the plugin activated if player has a cyclops eye in inventory. The player would have to talk to the innkeeper before he delivers the eye to the old man. I think this might work without having to know which globals have been set to whatever they get set to.

I don't think I want to do that. The player may not accept the quest until after clearing the Cyclops camp, and might give the eye to the man before visiting the inn.
A better way to do it would be with the Diadem of Stone, but there are PoG newbees who never read Stark's Walkthrough and don't know about that secret. The only thourogh way to do this would be with a global.

New plugin feature: You get a free gift the first time you stay at the inn.
I think I can now say the plugin is done, but I think that I might email Andrew Welch and see if I can squeeze the global name out of him. A few more changes after that, and the plugin will be done. Yes, I have decided to release it.

Good luck. I don't think Andrew knows. Ambrosia does not have the source code for PoG. The one who knows is Dee Brown at Beenox. He did not answer my emails when I was trying to find the global for the Guardian at the end of DiD. I therefore had to design a work-around to the Guardian's chamber.

WHAT?!?!? I was sure they had the Coldstone files for PoG! Oh boy, this is starting to look really bad. If they don't have the code for Coldstone or PoG, then there is no way that Ambrosia, alone, can fix our "problems" (meaning the major Panther bug). According to TomWoozle, Beenox hasn't even responded to Ambrosia. If Beenox doesn't respond, then unless Ambrosia finds some sneaky way to decompile the game, the only one who can fix this is Apple, by changing the OS code in 10.4 (or 10.3.3 or 10.3.2) to allow Coldstone-compilied games to work. And I don't think that would happen...

Doesn't Ambrosia have the code to all the other games they publish? I mean, how could they port Uplink to mac without the code? I'm pretty sure they have the code to iSeek, as well.
If Ambrosia has the code to most projects they publish, but not to PoG or Coldstone, then I guess us poor little developers are SOL, unless Beenox decides to help out and re-compile Coldstone. How hard is that?

Uplink is a port, as you said. They have a contract with IV, and, of course, have the source code.

And iSeek has been made by ASW. Would be kinda odd for them to not have the source code, isn't it ? 😛

They have code for everything they make, like the independent developers keep the codes of what they make too. ASW has never seen the source of CS, EVN, or other if developers refused to give 'em out.

Don't be surprised if you don't see the plugin right away. It takes a little time for Stark for review it and make sure it doesn't contain anything nasty (which, obviously, it doesn't). When it does appear, I'll create a new topic to announce it.
