Greetings, Ambrosia Software Boards!
My name is bizbag8, and I am doing publicity for the plug-in entitled Rigante.
The plug-in now involves a milita, similar to those that appeared in earlier EV games, called the Rigante, a milita group that grew from Scotland. The plug is still in early development, and reqires ideas, support, and feedback. If you are interested, visit The Official Rigante Plug Forum or EV-Nova.net, where you can view this topic.
If you have any interest in this plug-in, PM me here or at EV-Nova.net, or post here.
The lead developer, Ravenheart, has this to say about the project:
"Ravenheart" said:
A while back someone mentioned the idea of having some sort of militia in EV Nova, to protect the weak and bolster the grip on Pirating all around the Federation... Well, im doing that - but iv'e gone one step further.. Yes, that's right - for the past 2 weeks or so i have been working on a Plug-in (or potential TC later on...) And have finally decided to tell you the news.
Instead of a mere flët resource, i am introducing an entirely new government, navy, 4 systems and range of outfits.
Here is a little preview of the history of the Rigante: Since the early expansion of humanity, and with the growing wealth of the Colonial Council - order was needed. The navy did a good job in enforcing foreign affairs and colonizing, but inside the network a rot had begun.. The resurfacing of Pirates meant trouble for the council, and so they called apon an ancient militant order locked away in the most northern regions of Scotland, bidding assistance of the warrior race of old.. the Rigante. Reborn were the days of the clan and order was soon reformed as the combative prowess of the Rigante took place. Settling on a system not far from Sol..... blah blah blah
The Navy: I have already designed two ship classes, the Rigante Heavily Armed Viper and Rigante Tech B42 Valkyrie. At the moment they have Pirate graphics, but soon i will have modified them a great deal and you will see some awesome looking ships patrolling the galaxy My plans for the navy are as follows:
Rigante Heavily Armed Viper Rigante Tech B42 Valkyrie Rigante Falchion class Starbridge Rigante Bomber class IDA Frigate (which is going to have awesome Pirate-ish graphics )
Here are some screenshots of the current ships:

Also, every Rigante ship will have it's own custom status bar (which is all red at the moment due to the bug in 1.0.9, it was working fine before) Here is a screenshot i took before of what the bar looks like:

The outfits: I am introducing a range of Rigante outfits (that will be available to any pilot of any ship or government) that will be available solely on the planet Rigante. So far, this is what i have got:
Keltoi Jammer (you will learn more of the keltoi later) Keltoi Stabilizer Keltoi Engine Tweak
I may even decide to add some new weapons to leave the Navy even more unique.. The graphics for these outfits are from stock Nova, though when i get better at 3D i may add some of my own pictures. Below is a screenshot of the Keltoi Jammer (again, with the 1.0.9 bug shading it completely red):

The systems: As mentioned before, 4 new systems have already been constructed. They are - Rigante, Connavar and Ruathain. At the moment they take the places of the 4 systems directly above Tichel though i plan to make an entirely new position for the triad. Each planet has its own unique description, history and defense fleet. Rigante boasts 60,000 credits if dominated, but its more than a challenge and the others 30,000.
The flët resource: I am planning to have the militant order of the Rigante incorporated into the plug. Small fleets will enter certain systems on certain occasions in order to bring peace to the galaxy. They will attack pirates automatically, and any Auroran scum they see (though i love the Aurorans, the Rigante are central to the narrow-minded Federation now) etc.
Overall i plan to have all of the above features incorporated into one plug-in, the future holds many possibilities - such as custom graphics, sprites and a storyline. If all goes well, and there is a demand for something bigger, the possibility of a TC will be apparent... For the meantime though, i will be working on the plug to bring it up to the standards stated above, and will employ testers later on.
Something that always makes plug-ins better are original graphics. I suggest you make some of your own.
Yes, Lead Developer Ravenheart is currently working on making new graphics for the Rigante fleet. He is also creating original graphics for the new planets, a few of which you can see here.
Currently, we are discussing the statistics of the new ships, like the potential Rigante Dive Bomber and the potental Rigante Hurricane. When we decide their particulars, their artwork will begin. You can see some pictures of the Rigante IDA here.
Thank you, shady tradesman. Have you visited the Forum yet?
Be careful. Make sure you don't make a mess of the Nova galaxy's balance.
What do you mean by the "balance"?
In terms of power? Frankly, the Polaris defeat everyone hands down. In terms of popularity? What do you mean?
He means like don't make it so that the new people kill all the pirates and make the game too easy. Make it harder if anything.
Sounds like a neat plug. Interesting concept. Can't wait to download it when it's finished. I don't recommend a TC, just for the simple fact that so few get done. You shouldleave it at a medium-sized plug and be happy. Also, as i'm sure you're lead developer will tell you, no one wants to design the amount of ships it takes for a TC unless they've been doing it for a long time.
Feel free to offer your suggestions at The Rigante Forum! as well as here! The development is open to discussion!
