PoG will "remember" the new DiD maps since you have been there before, and the toadstools will not grow back on the DiD maps but will grow again on the PoG maps. You'll have to work a little harder to get your quota to satisfy the Hag of Hartsford. Don't worry, there are enough of them.

RD ....

This just sunk in ... I think. PoG will "remember" the new DiD maps even though I haven't done DiD as a Conjuror? I did DiD as my original character, without Trinity, SE or any other plug-ins. Will it still "remember"?

Actually, I might have started all over again when I played Did (still, no other plug-ins). I don't remember! ( at self)

Hugs as always,
P.

PoG will only "remember" maps for any plugin if you re-play the plugin with the same character. If you start with a new character, then all the maps are "new" until you character covers that area.

What I was saying was that if you de-select a plugin, and subsequently re-select it, to play the plugin twice, then you will find that the areas you covered the first time will be "remembered" and any special items which you collected on the first time around will no longer be available. That is, unless the plugin author took steps to make them available again.

Let me illustrate with this example: You find the shank of the sword. You leave that map. I don't want you to find another there if you come back to that square again. So the shank is marked as "remembered" to prevent collecting a bunch of them. Now you want to play DiD a second time with the same character. PoG "thinks" you have already found the sword shank. But you need it to reforge the complete sword. I had to have the game engine check several things. Has the player been to this map before? Yes. Does the player have a sword shank in inventory? No. Does the player possess the complete Blade Diabolus? No. Ok, let's give him a shank. (Originally, I named that part of the sword the shaft. Ok, let's give him the . . . never mind, I won't go there.)

Well, there go my hopes for ever writing a plug-in. Not that that was ever even a remote possibillygoat! 😄

I think I unnerstand.

And with understanding (albeit very minute understanding) comes even more respect for the designers of these plug-ins we take for granted.

Gotta admit, DiD is my favrit. (Yeah, yeah. I have my own vocabulary. 😛 ) It's got a beginning and an end. Feels like I'm playing a game completely separate from PoG as opposed to playing "enhanced PoG".

Not that enhanced PoG isn't good ... very good! I couldn't be playing DiD as a conjuror without it.

Oh shut up Pam and go to bed!

Nite all!

Hugs on alla yuz,
P.

Relocate for Dummies:

When you cast Relocate, you must enter the cordinates which you want to travel to. First horizantal, then vertical. Before you use Relocate, you should have the "Scry" spell (Gwyden Camp), as it will tell you the cordinates for your current location.
How cordinates are set up for this spell:

Every single tile that you step on in the game (excluding caves and "indoor" areas) has two numbers that define it. For example, the top-left most tile on an outdoor map would be {1,1} . Since outdoor maps are one hundred tiles wide and one hundred tiles long, the bottom-right most square would be {200,200} . The first number is the horizantal number, and the second is the vertical number. All Coldstone-based maps must be set up this way. Coldstone maps must be a perfect square, and the size can be anything from {20,20} to {1000,1000}. Relocate simply works by allowing you to pick which tile you want to go to, then it takes you there. Confusing? Well, I'm afraid I can't do any better for now. Hope this helps.

Plugin making isn't all that hard. You don't need to make a super-complex plugin like DiD, Trinity (the most complex plugin on the server), or Spells Expander (the OTHER complex plugin). You came make a simple quest plugin like Sapphire, or make one that adds a few new weapons and spells. I have made several like this (even though I have absolutely no plans to release them). One of the hardest parts about plugin making is drawing maps. Download Coldstone and you'll see.

I do not consider maps difficult at all. Time-consuming, yes. I think well-crafted animations and spells are harder to do.

Well, once I treid drawing a {50,50} map and when I entered it, the tiles appears all pixelated, looked ugly when I walked around, the overhead map wouldn't open, and no items I placed would pick up. I'm not going to try drawing a map again anytime soon.

This has been answered a few times on the Coldstone board. I'm not going to bore the PoG gamers with the details here. It's not a PoG topic.

You could ask your question over on that forum if you don't find your answers with the search feature.
